If there's any way to control the world, it's with a uniting ideology. So far, radical Islamofascism is working well. It's hard to fight people who suicide bomb.

China will become lazy and slow, just like the West. They have to hold on to their ideals and values if they will survive the coming oil crash.

Walk, that is the most encouraging thing I've heard.  They rely SOOOOO much on oil, that when it's gone, haha, their way of life is over.

Their way of life?

What about ours?

We are the biggest oil whores of them all.

How did we go from a nice little thread about fusion to a thread down the toilet?

I liked Prom's wikipedia links.   So in an attempt to get this thread out of the potty, I'll post it again.

Ya, but they have a billion and a half people.  They have more cars and they virtually have no green power.  I saw a program and they just chug down the black gold.

as if teh US dont chug it down..... and how much green do you have?

a very small precentage correct.....Sure india Chugs it down too.....

as for your more cars in 2001 china had 18 million vechicles and of that only 5 mill were cars............ the US has howmany?

http://www.nap.edu/execsumm/030908492X.html

and for estimation sake there are about 1 in 3 that drive cars in the US so that about 100million vehicles.........yup lots more cars there... what about canada?

about 10 mill (statscan) for metro areas not counting rural areas ...... and we only have 34-35 million pop, cant seem to find the rural numbers..... but it should jump by another 2-4 mill?

id love to see that program..... because the last one i scene on it talked about their change fomt he bycle antion to the car nation......and that was only last year, and they talked about the growing need in china and india...... and that it will surpass US demand by 2015 (china) and 2012 (india)

so i dont know where your getting your info

edit: approx figures from Wikipedia is 220 million cars in the US and 500million world wide..... this does not included other veh types

If this was correct, which it is not. What are you trying to say?

The USA consumes 20 million barrels of oil each dayl. More then any other country in the world. China is on the upswing, but is no match of our appetite (sadly).

Green wise, we're a lot better off than China. Hell, Japan is probably the worst off. They have a ridiculous population size compared to their lack of natural resources. Of course, we have the problem of a growing population due to immigration. A high population is the main reason why China is in a worse situation than we are. There simply isn't enough oil to give every Chinese person a car.

China is trying to use oil to become a modern country before the gas runs out. Without oil, they wouldn't be able to make artificial suns and other things.

Finally, we will never, ever repay China.  Wink If anything, the trade deficit is a bigger problem than the federal debt. Their undervalued currency is our worst problem.

Green power is good, but cheap power is better. I'm perfectly happy with my luxurious oil life for now, and I'm ready to pay up a bit more for nuclear when it becomes the next option. In some areas, geothermal and wind power would work, but not here. Nuclear is what we're left with, and it works. China knows this too, of course, but they don't have the fuel reserves we do.  ok
