But: Curling!! Curling fucking rocks!! Uusipaavalniemi rules! We just won Italy, and are now in the semi's! Tonight we play GBR, but the outcome of that doesn't really matter all that much.

Oh yes!! It?s damn addictive, and Uusipaavalinniemi?s (with the longest second name at these games  Grin) way cool.
Today will be very interesting game between Finns and Britts.

Hopefully they'll have a great game today....? nervous

How about those Swedes losing yesterday so they'll play against the Swiss today. How conveniant....

/jarmo

I know, but, the Swiss are giant killers, they took out the 2002 champs and the 1998 champs so.....

Finland is the team to beat this year, and USA looks bad, so I don't think you have anything to worry about Jarmo ok (that game start in 3 minutes and I'm gonna be listening it'll be a good one beer )

My Canadians have to play Russia nervous now that something to worry about.

Question: Is the winter olympics getting good ratings in your countries? I was just reading yesterday how its not doing very well here in the U.S. I dont think the 2002 olympics did too well either, and we hosted that one.

Nearly everyone I know is following them this year, even non-sports fans Undecided it's weird

But we did shit last time, and funding has gone way up for our Olympic Athletes in Canada. So it's more of a pride thing, I think, this time around.

Canada got a Gold medal this morning for cross-country skiiing - 1.1-kilometre sprint

2-1 Sweden over Swiss at 1st intermission, I cant get the Fin/USA game Cry and the Sweden/Swiis game is being broadcast in french so i can't understand barely anything hihi (Man, Canadians and their hockey, we're such a sad bunch)

I was biting my nails towards the end of the game. I really want Niittymaki to get a ?medal to help his case to be our #1 goalie for the playoffs. Finland just needs to knock out Russia or Canada and they are looking good for a medal. ?Grin

I've lost a lot of respect for Sweden in this tournament. I also hate how they were on Peter Forsberg's back to play when he is injured. I want Peter to do well but I really don't want them to medal. ?Tongue

Looks like four European countries in the top-4, USA and Canada are out...

I hope Sweden loses at the semifinal after those silly shenanigans they've been pulling.

No Kariya, no Crosby, no Spezza, no Staal, no Phaneuf, no Boyle = NO SCORING!!!! not to mention injured guys like Jovanoski and Neidermyer.

Canada was shutout in 3 of their last 4 games and 11 of their last 12 periods. losing is one thing but this was a disgrace.? I'll guess I'll cheer for Finland.

My bad for puting this in The Jungle. I knew it as soon as I hit save.

Hoho, what a great day for Sweden. 2 gold medals and one bronze! This is Swedens best winter-olympics ever. And we're ahead of both Norway and Finland in the medal-race. It's lovely Wink

AND, the ladies won their curling-semi and will be playing Switzerland in the final today.

And, of course, we won the hockey-game very easy, as expected. I'd really like to see us in the final against Finland. And we all know how that would end Cheesy

(But, let's play the semi-final first...)

I'm dissapointed in the Canda Loss today Cry But Russia has a fantastic team, my hats of to them

And what up with Canada? All thse players and Shut out in 3 of 6 games!!!!?? WTF rant We shoulda brought in some of the hot players from this year rather than guys who did well 3 years ago. Oh Well, Vancouver 2010 we'll getthe gold back Grin

I think the Finland/Russia game is going to be fantastic. The winner of that game will take the Gold IMO. but Sweden and Czechs are good teams too. and With the Jagr & Forsberg factors it hard to rule either one of those teams out too.

Will be a good final few games regardless. And I agree a Finland/Sweden final would be a treat, when the last time those two teams played each other for the gold? It has to be a while, if ever. I'm not positive but I imagine it is quite the rivalry. (It looks like Wernie wants to go toe to toe with Jarmo Cheesy Get in the Ring!! hihi )

World Championship '98, Sweden won 1-0 as a Finnish equalizer near the end was disqualified by a blind referee.

Yestrday was a great day for finns! Woop.

I don't know what Finland was doing most of the game. confused

But in the end, it's just the number of goals that counts. Woop.

Curling match was very exciting too. Finns won 4-3 against GB. Woop again.
Oh yes, Uusipaavalniemi?s next to god, upwards.

A Finland vs. Sweden final would set off a mini-war in my house (thank god I won't be here for it).  My girlfriend loves Sweden because of Peter Forsberg, while I'm pulling for the Finns because I'm half Finnish and they're the only European players who play with some guts (or Sisu, as the case may be).

Unfortunately, I'll be travelling to Texarkana with my local NAHL team to announce their game on the radio on Friday and Saturday night so I won't be at home to see the game.  Hopefully I can still watch it in the hotel (give me a listen, friday and saturday 8 pm eastern! www.wfwildcatshockey.com ).
