In this thread you can post questions to fellow board members about things that aren't related to one particular gig.
It might be looking for accommodation between gigs, best way to travel between three cities or just some general advice about travelling in Europe.

its not that beautiful!
but to the author - i dont live in dublin so i cant help you out. but i may be staying down there over night and if so should have something sorted soon and ill let you know contact details for a few places.
the trouble is, there is a robbie williams(!) concert in croke park (irelands national stadium) the same night. it might (though probably wont cause there is millions of places in dublin to stay) cause a bit of a problem accomodationwise.
it could certainly cause problems for the security
if
axl doesnt show. they're not too well trained for rioters down there.

Well, my fiance and I are going to Dublin as well. We know that there's a chance Axl won't show up.... but it's going to be a nice trip anyway.
But we're having a hard time finding hotels that are not too expensive there.
Does anyone know of a good/not expensive hotel there

I also go to Dublin (from the Netherlands) and yesterday a booked a bed and breakfast. I found it on
www.bookin1.com
, they have a large choice. I also couldn't find an affordable hotel (unless you think that 650 euro for 2 nights is ok), so therefore I looked for a B&B. You can search on area (within Dublin City off course), but if you select Ballsbridge (the area which RDS is in), you only see two and they are both full. So you'll be a bit further from the Arena, but that shouldn't be a problem.
Good luck and see you there!

hey im 17 and I live in the US....I'm planning to fly into Portugal for the 27th and see GNR and then take train around Europe to see other shows......Download, Dublin, Nova Rock Fest, and Gods Of Metal are my preferences at the moment.
I want to get opinions about where to stay, where to eat, and how much a train ticket would cost to go from Portugal to Italy and UK and Austria. Thanks!

I'm not too sure about getting around Europe but you're going to have a hard time getting a train to the UK from any of the places you listed!
I think your best bet to get over to the UK from Europe would be to get to France and take the Eurostar - alternatively, look into flying or ferries. Ferries can take ages but they are probably the cheaper option. You're still going to have to find transport options when it comes to getting from the airport/dock/wherever into Download though. Trains in the UK are notoriously expensive too so I'd save up all your pennies for this trip!

With all the low budget airlines around, I'd suggest looking at flying as an alternative for trains.
The downside with these airlines is that often they fly out of smaller airports that are located quite far from the actual cities.

Hey,
I'm from England and have been having problems buying a ticket off the Rock In Rio site. When I try to buy it says 'Please select Delivery Method and Zip code' although I select the 'Other Countries' delivery method and we don't have zip codes in England, we have post codes, which is a totally different thing.
Has anyone from England bought tickets and can tell me what I'm doing wrong. I'd really appreciate it coz I'm going to download, dublin and grasspop but you can tell Lisbon is gonna be something special
Thanks

an option is to buy a month train ticket to travel through europe, they're quit expensive (for the few shows i'm going to see) but maybe for you they will be allright, coz you will use it more. Only i don't know how it works if you want to buy them from outside holland, so maybe other countries (since Portugal is your first country) sell them too, you should check out the portugees trainsite.
anyway the dutch site is:
http://www.eurail.com/
(this is the link i found to an international site about traveling by train in europe) when you're younger then 26 you get an discount.
i've just read that this type of trainticket also gives you free transport by boat between some countries, so it might be worth it to check it out.

I went to Stockholm with Ryanair last september. The bus from Skavsta airport arrives to Stockholm central station, and it's 50 minutes of journey, approximately.I don't remember the price well..it could be approximately 15€.I must still have the ticket somewhere..I'll try to search it...?

Question hopefully someone here can answer:
I orderd my tickets off ticketmaster.ie on Monday- they said it takes 7-10 Days for Overseas delivery- is that overseas delivery just to continental Europe ot to the States as well? Just want to know when I should expect them in the mail.

Found this website which might prove useful for anyone not wishing to splash out on overnight accommodation during the tour.? The site gives information on airports worldwide and the ease and comfort of sleeping in them.
http://www.sleepinginairports.net
Hope it's helpful.

Great idea for a thread.
I'm thinking about going to the Denmark show, but I have a few questions...What is Roskilde like?
Is it a big town, like will I be able to find cheap accommodation there?
Or should I just take the plunge and camp...and if so, can you hire camping stuff? Has anyone been to the concert before?
And what's it like getting to Danmark from England? I figure ryan air or something would be my best bet...? And then once in Denmark whats the best wayt to get to Roskilde?

The one month euro rail pass works like this. You have thee right to reserve a train seat for any unbooked train departure. You usually have to do this a couple days in advance to the final destination that it is you are going. DOnt buy a monthly pass it is a waste of money buy the tickets as you need them and just plan a couple of day in advance!!! Use train sytem there it is great. Just be sure that you have permission to go into the next country that you are traveling into. where many countries are strict about and could put yourself in a tough position. BETTER YET JUST GO OUT AND BUY LONELY PLANET OR LETS GO. BUY ONE THAT COVERS ALL OF EUROPE . WORTHS ITS WEIGHT IN PLATINUM

hey im 17 and I live in the US....I'm planning to fly into Portugal for the 27th and see GNR and then take train around Europe to see other shows......Download, Dublin, Nova Rock Fest, and Gods Of Metal are my preferences at the moment.
I want to get opinions about where to stay, where to eat, and how much a train ticket would cost to go from Portugal to Italy and UK and Austria. Thanks!
an option is to buy a month train ticket to travel through europe, they're quit expensive (for the few shows i'm going to see) but maybe for you they will be allright, coz you will use it more.

With all the low budget airlines around, I'd suggest looking at flying as an alternative for trains.
The downside with these airlines is that often they fly out of smaller airports that are located quite far from the actual cities.
Some helpfull links:
www.ryanair.com
www.easyjet.com

Just to reinforce what Jarmo said. EasyJet is one of the cheapest airlines you are going to find. I've flown EasyJet a couple of times and they're pretty good (I do suggest you have some food in case you are hungry, because the food they have on board is expensive, around ?10 a sandwich). Most of their flights from and to London departs from/arrives at Gatwick.
If you are going to Rock In Rio Lisbon though, my suggestion is Monarch airlines.
So, if anyone wants any more information on flights, places to stay at, or anything else, all you have to do is PM me?
