Comedy is tragedy plus time

« on: April 26, 2006, 01:12:00 PM »

We're putting together a medley with a friend of mine to play, and we need songs with "na na" lyrics, or la la's or anything less informative, so I thought I'd ask you for some assistance. We already have some songs put together, but we need more. We're looking for Finnish / English songs (though the nana's will sound pretty much the same whatever the language... Smiley ), but please feel free to post other songs also. The reason I'm posting is that although the world's full of them, when you're supposed to remember things like this, they never come to mind.

Some songs we've thought of:

Apulanta / Nevermind the cowboys, here come the real Russians [Finnish]
Kylie Mingue / Can't Get You Out Of My Head
Beatles / Hey Jude
Nylon Beat / Viimeinen [Finnish]
Blink 182 / All The Small Things
Roxette / The Look
Scooter / How Much Is The Fish

So as you can see... Genre is not an issue... Just post all your ideas.

The one that stands out in my mind is Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye) by Steam.  You always hear it at sporting events when the home team is about to win.  and what about Welcome to the Jungle? "chanananananananana knees"  hihi

If genre doesn't matter the first one that jumps to my mind is "Hey Mama" by Kanye West... the whole song is based on "la la la"s.  The "la"s might actually be from the sample he uses on it, Donal Leace - Today Won't Come Again (I haven't heard this though, so I can't say for sure - but it might be more appropriate for whatever you're trying to do).

I'm not sure if this counts... but "De do do do, de da da da" by The Police?   Cool

Everything counts... Smiley

If a guy made a song using farts only, post that. As long as it's monotonic and contains little to none information. none is preferred.

Thanks everyone.. It's a pretty fucked up job trying to tie all the songs together.. and even more so, to have a sort of a storyline there. But we're workin' on it. Thank you all, and do keep 'em coming if you have any more... (the batman thing's got to be included... Smiley )
