About once every 2 year I get on a major REM kick. Right now I'm in the middle of playing out Monster.

Here are my favorite REM songs. Then you should tell me what yours are! It will be fun especially considering the style clash between some GNR fans and REM fans.

1) Strange Currencies (easily the most underated song of theirs ever)? smoking
2) Losing My Religion
3) Bang and Blame
4) Driver 8
5) Exhuming McCarthy
6) Radio Free Europe
7) Imitation of life
8 Crush With Eyeliner
9) Stand
10) At My Most Beautiful

I'm a very big fan of R.E.M.

I saw them last year in January here in Sweden, it was a really great show, one of my favourite concerts ever.

My favourite tunes are:

I'm from the same town they're from. They really are from humble beginnings, but of course most bands are.  Smiley They're a lot like U2. They were an interesting indie band that became profoundly worthless as the 90's wore on. Like most great indie bands, they were the best when no one cared about them. I still listen to Monster occasionally.

Many critics and fans hated Monster. I'm not a big REM connesseur or fan, but I loved it and still do.

The band hates this song, and most people seem to hate it, I always thought is was fun-anyway, love REM-Around the Sun really took a beating last year from critics, and did not sell well-it took me a while, but I liked it-the need to get back to making a guitar album again-more Peter Buck

Automatic for the People is possibly the greatest album I've ever heard-I'll never forget the 1-2 punch of out of time and AFTP-I always felt REM represented the beauty in music to me while GNR brought out the aggresive, more powerful side of music I like

'World Leader Pretend' &  'You are the Everything' off Green:

&

'Perfect Circle' off Murmur:

Overall, I'd say Perfect Circle is probably the most underrated, as most people have never heard it.

Never forget to mention "Drive"...I once got around listening to it for a week or so...continuously repeated in my playlist "hey kids, shake a leg, maybe you're crazy in the head". REM are definitely a good band...and one must look beyond the "classic" songs such as "everybody hurts", "man on the moon" or whatever song everyone just happens to know...
