Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

I was disappointed with the film and it didn't live up to my hopes or expectations.

I did like the "Kylo Ren" character and his "Darth Vader" voice. I also thought Daisy Ridley played her character "Rey" well.

The Revenant - Really good. It seems on paper like a film you've seen before many times, but this is really well executed and acted.

The backdrop/sit-pieces mean it's really something you should check out in the cinema, it'll lose something in the transition to blu-ray unless you have very big screen.

I am going to try and watch The Revenant this week. It is not one that's been high on my list, but it seems to be doing well on the awards scene

Spotlight: awesome movie. As a journalist myself and having been to a catholic school, thought the movie was pretty fucking spot on.

Star Wars Episode VII again. I love the movie, but for me its the first act that impresses the most. The character introductions were done really well and I love how the whole thing starts. Once we get to Han the film is dragged down by exposition and some plot that really doesn't make much sense when you think about it, but its still fun to watch. Also felt the death star felt tacked on as if somebody said lets add this in to give us a big ending when in actuality the drama of Han/Kylo/Rey/Finn would have been perfect and the other stuff felt tacked on.

Black Mass

Johnny Depp is good but overall it was a bit disappointing. It doesn't flow well and anyone who doesn't already know the true story that the movie is about would be hard pressed to follow the plot.

I agree. Almost have to wonder if the final product would've been better in the hands of De Palma or Scorsese, or if the script was simply lacking.
