its hard, not knowing what amp u have and FX, but, in general....i would go with:

Gain/Drive/Distortion: 7

Bass: 6

Mids: 5

Highs: 7

Presence: 6

for rhythm guitar, u can scoop the mids down to like 3.....for lead guitar, boost the mids to like 6 or 7 and MAYBE boost the highs to like 8 and/or presence to 7 or 8

of course it all depends on guitar. this is what i use basically for my Les Paul and my Line 6 set to Slash's Plexi Lead 100 based on Slash's Silver Jubilee Amp Head from 1987, the grey/silver one. i have the Line 6 Flextone III 2x12 and its perfect for ALL amps, highly recommend it!!!

To get a Slash-type sound on my Vox Valvetronix AD30VT I use-

Amp setting - UK 80s (JCM 800)

Treble - 12 o'clock

Mid (rhythm) - 12 o'clock
      (lead/solos) - 2-3 o'clock

Bass - 3 o'clock

Gain/Overdrive - 12 - 1 o'clock

ya, iv notice that the brit hi gain is the best, i am still trying to get the exact sound out of it, i am close, but it still sounds a bit off.

I have a Peavey XL Supreme head running through a Carvin 4x12 and a Legion 4x10, and distoriton on the head is perfect for GNR. Just use ultra with the gain all the way up, and the body and bottom equal, not really mattering what they're at as long as they are equal. Edge should be halfway or 3/4.

You'll never get the exact sound without running a JCM 800 at loud volumes for that driven valve tone. You can get close but you'll never be perfect. And remember tone comes from the hands aswell not just the amp ok

8 mid
4 highs/treble

Anyone playing a valvestate (yeah, I know, shoot me... Wink ) and have an idea on how to make is sound SCOM-ish?
Have the Gibson Les Paul on the neck pickup, so that should be fine, but I can't seem to find a sufficiently 'creamy' enough sound, if ya know what I mean...

the ONLY way toa actually dial in a GOOD slash tone is through using a class A/B tube amp. I tried settingn up a marshall mg30 and mg50 to sound like slash and it just doesnt work. i cat get it out oif my microcube and when i got my peavey valveking 212 it was wonderful.

alan i am so incredibly  jealous of your amp.
