why are flac files so freakin big, or am i just missing something to speed it up if i have DSL

Because they're LOSSLESS. That's why, mp3s are compressed to shitty quality n' with lossless you get the whole shbang.

FLAC is just one of various lossless formats. Its a method to compress WAVE files (huge files) and convert them into a smaller file, with almost no loss of audio quality.

FLAC files are common among traders which only want the best quality possible of a recording.

You need more time to download a FLAC file (than mp3) just for the simple reason they're bigger. I dont know what to tell you dude, try using a download manager or pay for a better connection.

Using IDM (internet download manager), i managed to download all the Prisby's Hammersmith files at a 300 kb/s rate. The same for CBGB's.
