Anyone here ever been to Jim Morrison's old motel room?  He stayed in room #32 of the Alta Cienega Motel in West Hollywood for about 2 years. It's now a shrine of sorts. I spent the evening of July 3rd in the room:

Jim is underrated.

And I say this knowing that he is considered overrated by many.

But I'm speaking of his actual musical talents. People praise his poetry-style of writing songs, but the actual music - and his voice - and his stage presence - were just as strong. Beatles get the most attention for paving the way for rock, but their style didn't last; it's Morrison's style (long hair, tight leather, sexual stage dancing, sunglasses) that exists in bands like GN'R.
