i think one way ticket is just as good as permission to land.? i have gotten to LOVE the song Dinner Lady Arms and i like all the other songs too.? damn still cant believe that justin hawkins left.. i hope he comes back.

I agree One Way Ticket is a great album, so many great songs. The Darkness wanted their debut album to be like One Way Ticket, but pressures from the record company, and time constraints, caused them to make what would become PTL.

Wow...surprised to hear that PTL *wasn't* the record they wanted to make.  To me, One Way Ticket is almost over-produced, with too much going on in comparison.   I prefer the more raw sound on Permission...

i officially love every song by The Darkness, that is the only band besides GNR that i love every song by.  the more ive listened the more i get to love it, both albums have an ac/dc, queen feel to it.  some really sweet riffs, solos in all songs, and justins voice that makes it really great.  both albums are really great and honestly ive gotten to like one way ticket to hell more... just some really damn good music, i still cant believe these guys released the album in 2005.  they have definatley convinced me that they are the best hard rock group to come along since GNR.

I'd actually heard the exact opposite to that, PTL was the sound the Darkness wanted but One Way Ticket was a result of record company interference that wanted a more radio friendly sound to the songs. When I saw them earlier in the year live the band as a whole (except the bassist who's a maniac and rocked to everything) seemed much more into the PTL songs, the energy level rose a notch when they played songs off that album.

OWT is not more radio friendly than PTL, and yes, the energy would rise a notch because the songs of PTL were more popular.

Justin, the lead singer, quit the band.  He fell into some bad addictions, is cleaning up, and feels it's best to stay out of the rock 'n roll lifestyle  (if this isn't right, someone correct me).

In the meantime, the band allegedly plans to continue on.  Rumor has it the new bassist will be taking over lead vocals.

which shows how nice the music industry is for one of the biggest rock bands of ths decade.

(its funny when you compare it to the 80s when every rock band was huge)

They were NOT dropped by their label, that was just a rumor.

i've seen nothing to suggest otherwise and not read a single statement contradicting that. but feel free to provide me one from a decent source.
