I saw them last night and it was mind blowing.  Any doubts you have about this band will be gone in the first 2 minutes.  Duvall and Cantrel harmonize perfectly.  They even dedicated a song to Layne and lighters went up everywhere.

Hard to replace a voice like that - I give this guy credit for being his own man and not feeling like he has to apologize to anyone for it

I don't particularly care for his voice or his style, but I cannot deny that the album is good and it definitely fits in well with the rest of the band's work -

From Matt Sorum:

CONGRATS AND MEET MR AND MRS INEZ

Longtime friend Mike Inez, bassist of Alice in Chains and Ozzy Osborne got married today to longtime girlfriend Sydney. Big turnout at the beautiful estate of Susan Silver. AICs manager. In attendance were Zakk Wylde, Jerry Cantrell, Duff McKagan, Sean Kinney,Denny Seiwell and an amazing turnout of close friends and family. A hawk flew over Mike and his brides head during the ceremony. And I thought of our old friend Randy Castillo looking down on his good friend Mike with Pride. Great to see Mike so happy. Rock on you guys.

ALICE IN CHAINS Strikes Gold With 'Black Gives Way To Blue' - May 25, 2010

"Black Gives Way To Blue" (Virgin/EMI), the new album from ALICE IN CHAINS, has been certified gold by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for shipments in excess of 500,000 copies. The CD has shifted 431,000 units in the United States since its September 2009 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The gold certification is the latest in a long line of success stories surrounding the band and "Black Gives Way To Blue" dating back to last October, when the record entered The Billboard 200 at No. 5 with first-week sales exceeding 125,000 copies.

Lead single "Check My Brain" set the album' s pace by blanketing rock and alternative radio and rocketing straight to No. 1 on Billboard's Rock Songs chart and No. 1 on the R&R Rock chart. The band maintained chart domination with second single "Your Decision", which also hit No. 1 on Billboard's Rock Songs chart and stayed there for eight weeks. "Your Decision" also became the 12th top ten mainstream rock hit of ALICE IN CHAINS' illustrious career. The track' s debauchery-filled video, inspired in part by the film "Eyes Wide Shut", was also the Most Played Video on MTV2.

Both fans and critics alike have responded to the Nick Raskulinecz-produced (FOO FIGHTERS, DEFTONES, RUSH) album with rave reviews: Playboy gave it four stars, calling it "ALICE IN CHAINS' 'Back In Black'." The Boston Globe wrote "ALICE IN CHAINS is back in business and business is good," Metal Hammer said, "ALICE IN CHAINS are back and every bit as exciting and heavy," a Guitar World magazine readers' poll voted "Black Gives Way To Blue" "Rock Album of the Year" and at the recent Revolver Golden Gods Awards show, the band walked away with both the "Album of the Year" and "Comeback of the Year" honors.
