Is it me or is Pittman starting to look like Ozzy?!

He looks much more like ZED from Police Academy movies (left).? rofl

Doesn't he?? Grin

Sorry about the off-topic. I'm hoping that everything goes incredible at Gibson Amphitheatre's last night and, if it's not asking too much, surprises keep coming.

Amazing show.  TOTALLY surpassed my expectations and was much better than Inland Invasion.  I got to hear four songs that weren't played at Inland (Down on the Farm(!) Used to Love Her, Chinese Democracy and Think About You which is one of my favorite songs) and plus Izzy was there as well.  It was funny that Axl kicked out some guy at the end of Paradise City.  It was also pretty funny when he said "Oh, let's bring out a friend, Izzy Stradlin" and then he said "oh, he's not here right now?  he might be back later, but we're not sure?  welcome to my world motherfuckers"

Last night was another Amazing show!!  GNR is on FIRE right now, they totally kicked ass!  Axl was more talkative last night as well, which is always cool.  Izzy jammed with them again on Used to Love her, Patience, Nightrain, Think about You and Paradise City.

Izzy was awesome and it was really great to see him again! He played the intro to Patience by himself preceded by a little solo.  He also did the Think About You short solo!! and then the 2nd part with Fortus. that was awesome!!  Izzy was having a blast, running around, jamming with the guys and enjoying playing again which made me happy.
When he first called out Izzy, apparently he disappeared and then he joked, "Now you motherf'ers see what I go through".  Later on he joked that Izzy took Axl's car for a spin and they had to use a GPS to find him and fly him in from Baja.  He was pretty funny.  He also called him out and said its "Tyrannical Rose calling Izzy, Tyranosaurus Rose."

The sound was once again excellent. I found myself hearing things I was never able to hear clearly before at any other GNR show I've seen. For example the keyboards in Chinese Democracy, some of Bumblefoot's parts, congas, keyboards in many other spots and many of Pittman's sound effects.

The songs were similar to the last show except they added Rocket Queen which was a pretty great performance, and Down on the Farm which they had down perfectly.  Love the english accent on this one, and the ending was complete with sheep bleating! Smiley
The show last night was about 2:35 long!!  Last night Bumblefoot also got a solo which included Don't Cry.  He was prodding the crowd to sing along which we did.

Axl threw picks into the crowd near the end and was shaking a bunch of people's hands.  He came over to sing to this kid who was up front a few times too.
Tommy was really into the show as well. He was singing along to songs and sitting up front, singing to people.

The new songs got a pretty good response all things considered. Unlike what I expected, there weren't that many people sitting for the new songs but during the solos they did.  Great crowd reaction and attendance, especially for a week night show!

Axl had to kick someone out for fighting at the very end of Paradise City but he said the show was great and they had a great time anyway.  Apparently Security was "asleep at the wheel"!  He also had some problems with his earpiece but they were fixed pretty quickly too.
One other kind of funny thing happened - the drum set caught on fire from the pyro and it also partly fell over.  After November rain the sparks lit several things on fire, and later Axl said  "Maybe tomorrow night we'll blow up the drummer like Spinal Tap!"

Another strange and unexpected thing that happened was Bubbles came out during My Michelle and he tried to play some guitar which was hilarious. I don't think Axl knew about that one.

All in all, a most excellent show and there was nothing I would really change. Tonight is going to be Epic, I can't wait!!  During this run of shows, GNR is playing and sounding the best I've ever heard of all the shows i've seen!!

Thanks man. You know it is something when you still get really excited to hear the songs you've seen many times before when they are just playing so good and having so much fun up there!

by the way, I spent most of the beginning of the show looking for the Buddha Master!
i guess you must have left hard rock kind of early ?  Dude, you gotta come tonight , it is going to be so great!!!

p.s. Garry are you the one who started the chant for Perfect Crime? whoever did that is awesome.. Axl just kind of laughed!  Cheesy

ahhhhh It was so incredible makes me wish I could go again tonight!  They played almost 3 hours 11:40 to 2:20am and the place looked full to the very end.

The new songs received a good response overall. I saw a lot of folks rocking out to Better and CD, and Madagascar sounded great.  IRS was ok.

Axl really ripped it on Rocket Queen and DOTF!  I was really happy I could hear him crystal clear from where I was at.

He introduced Used to Love Her by saying him and Izzy were living in a shithole and they just couldnt stand the pussy hair metal song being played on the radio, and UTLH was born as a result  hihi

At one point it seem like some of pyros landed on the drums because Axl was joking about going spinal tap and setting the drummer on fire. And when they played a little bit of smoke on the water, Axl sang SMOOOOKE ON THE DRUMMER! really cracked me up  rofl

I could see Izzy having a great time with all the guys.  At one point he and Fortus went up the front of the stage, smiled at each other and then rocked out!  And then he shared the mike with Tommy for some background vocals.

November Rain was a personal highlight for me, Axl sang with emotion and I was really caught up in it.

damn, I want to go again tonight!

you should go again tonight man, just do it! it will be worth it Smiley

i forgot about Smoke on the Drummer! hahahah, that was so funny!  Izzy and some of the others started playing Smoke on the Water and Axl sang that. nice one!

p.s. someone said they thought Ron wasn't in a good mood sunday, well i disagree and last night he was having a blast and running around a lot, even during don't cry!

p.p.s. Bach was hilarious... i bet his neck hurts from headbanging. i dont like all of his songs but his set was pretty entertaining to say the least! Cheesy

Edmonton had the exact same setlist (although without Izzy). I think the California shows should get an extra song.

So, did anyone hear what Axl said when the band came out for a final bow??  Like I stated in a prior post, it sounded something like "you never know tomorrow".   drool
Could someone confirm it?

So glad I spent the money on Pit tix (although many people in the pit snuck down).  I lucked out and got to shake his hand during Paradise City.  I have it all on video, I will post it as soon as I get home and can get it off my camera phone.  I, along with most others who went last night, am struggling at work today, but so worth it!  AMAZING SHOW!!!  peace

I've been very fortunate to see GNR perform numerous times throughout the years (both old and new) and I just wanted to say that this show was the best/most enjoyable Guns N' Roses concert that I've ever experienced.... 'nuff said.   yes

Cheers,

Alright just catching up on the impressions. Again, nicely done Chief. And hey, I was at Hard Rock until 8 (sitting near the GNR section with my mom and co worker).

This show was so fucking awesome I cant stop replaying it in my head. It was one of the most memorable Rock shows of my entire life. So many fucking moments, it was just unbearably great. My mom got the entire experience of a badass (in the absolute best sense) motherfucking Rock show.

Alright so let just say some things (and I apologize if this was already said). Anyone know the lowdown with the dude getting kicked out by Baz? I heard he was flipping him off and shit. And also at the end when Axl was yelling to the dude to back the fuck up.

So where was I. Did we talk about that Trailer Park Boys dude named Bubbles? Hahahahahahaha. Seriously...that was as awesome as it was crazy. This down syndrome dude, being allowed to stay on stage, and later given a guitar!!! He looked like he was about to smash it at the end!!! Fucking wow. Axl and Baz were laughing their fucking asses off. Axl was all dancing near him and they were both saying shit like "who the fuck is this?!"

Godmnit I am sure everything else has been said. Chief is always good with this shit. My mom had the time of her life. She started crying during Thal's Don't Cry solo. And again during November rain. We had a moment that we have never had. We had our arms around each other, and I remembered a poster here, saying I should give her a kiss, and I did. And the poster was right. It was a bigger bonding experience then anything in the 32 years I have known my mom.

Man...again I keep replaying the show in my head. It was special beyond words.
