The 3 should do something without Robert if that is all that is holding them back, but for God's sake don't call it Led Zeppelin.

I with you on this.

Rumours are beginning to circulate that Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has been jamming with members of Led Zeppelin in preparation for a world tour. A source told the Daily Mail; "Steve was jamming with Zep. They had a great time but Steve kept fluffing (messing up) his lines. He got quite flustered about it."

In other news, Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones has confirmed that he, drummer Jason Bonham and guitarist Jimmy Page will be heading out for a tour with a different singer. You can check out the Q&A session with Jones below.

Jimmy Page rehearsed and played with Aerosmith in 1990.

Don't post this vile on a Guns N' Roses board.

Jones & Page are in their early/mid 60's.

They don't have 10 years to wait around for Robert.

Zeppelin without Plant would be like GNR without Axl.

My thoughts exactly.

Plus even without Plant, tickets are probably going to be insanely expensive, and I'd much rather save the money for a bunch of Gn'R shows.

Has Led Zeppelin Found Its New Singer?

October 31, 2008 , 11:15 AM ET
Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.

Who needs Robert Plant? Apparently not the other surviving members of Led Zeppelin, who are ready to pull the trigger on a tour with a new singer if Plant refuses to join in. Sources tell Billboard the frontman first in line for the gig is Myles Kennedy, who has most recently led the rock outfit Alter Bridge.

Kennedy has rehearsed with Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist John Paul Jones and drummer Jason Bonham on several occasions, according to sources in the know. In a recent BBC interview, Jones confirmed the band was planning to tour but didn't refer to Kennedy by name.

Although he was onboard for a one-off reunion in December 2007 in London, Plant has steadfastly declined to hit the road with Zeppelin. In late September, he issued a statement saying he has "no intention whatsoever of touring with anyone for at least the next two years," and also wished Page, Jones and Bonham "nothing but success with any future projects."

If things move forward, the biggest question would be what to call the group. Would Zeppelin fans stand for it if the original name was used despite Plant's absence?

There may be one unintended side effect should Kennedy bolt Alter Bridge, which has released an album each for Wind-Up and Universal. That band features the non-singing members of Creed, who split with frontman Scott Stapp in 2004. But sources indicate there would be big bucks in a Creed reunion tour and that the band may indeed rise again.

I'd be all for the guys to go out with a new singer if the alternative was not to do anything...but again, don't call it Led Zeppelin!

I used to love Led Zeppelin. Then I started a band 5 years ago, which has undergone several lineup changes. But the first drummer was obsessed. He drove Led Zeppelin out of me.

I cannot stand this band.

According to Gigwise.com, LED ZEPPELIN frontman Robert Plant has revealed that he decided against performing again with the band over fears a full reunion might disappoint fans.

Speaking to Absolute Radio's Ben Jones, Plant said it would have been "delicate" to "visit old ground" again with the group.

"The disappointment that could be there once you commit to that and the comparisons to something that was basically fired by youth and a different kind of exuberance to now, its very hard to go back and meet that head on and do it justice," he said.

"The reason that it stopped was because we were incomplete, and we've been incomplete now for 28 years."

Plant added that it was important to "guard the discretion" of the band's past material and "make sure that you have all the reasons in the right place to be able to do something with absolute, total conviction."

"I mean, if my great award is to do this, then I don't want to do anything where we challenge what we did in the first place by just going back and visiting it without having a new, fresh makeover start."
