Got Revelations today and I'm a few tracks into the first listen, but nothing has blown me away.

I like the song Revelations, but nothing else has really jumped out yet. Will probably take a few more listens, as the other albums took a few listens to get onto and now I love them both, especially Out Of Exile.

The version I bought was really cheap too and it came with a bonus DVD with interviews/performance footage.

sick!!! how is that??

i like the record alot, my fave songs are:

Revelations
Sound of A Gun
Shape of Things To Come
Moth

the rest of the album is solid except for Original Fire and Broken City which i simply don't like. maybe broken city will grow but i've had enough of original fire already.

I'm not really a Cornell/SOundagarden/Audioslave fan but i caught Chris on the radio in toronto last week, he talked about his solo record and the new Audioslave record and played some acoustic tunes by himself....i caught "blackhole sun" and the newest AS radio tune (not sure the name, maybe original fire) it was pretty cool, but anyway it was on 102.1 the Edge if anybody wants to look into it for boots peace

It's pretty cool, it's only short, about 16 minutes long, but has interviews with the band about the album, mixed up with with studio performance footage.

The album is growing on me though, but I still don't think it's as good as their debut or Out Of Exile.

Eh, what a letdown, pretty boring and bland, all sounds the same. Liked the first 2.

I just gave Out Of Exile another chance and it's grown on me, but not as immediately as the first album that's for sure!  I'll probably check out the new one at some point.

So did anyone else here buy this album Tuesday? What's your opinion on it?

I enjoyed their debut a great deal, and last year's Out of Exile was pretty good, though, a little monotonous maybe, and it made me not feel very excited about the next album.
Original Fire, the first single off of Revelations was, in my opinion, not very representative of the album or a good choice for a first single, but that's just my humble opinion. After having listened to the album in full, I have to say that Revelations is a step in the right direction, at least when it comes to my taste. Morello is trying a few new things instead of opting for his trademark sound on every song. And Cornell's singing is better than it was on the last two AS albums. There's definitely a growth in AS's sound and I am already looking forward to the new album, as well as Cornell's solo album that he has begun pre-production on. Also, be on the lookout for Cornell's main theme in the new Bond movie!

It's a good album with a lot of filler. Wide Awake, Shape of Things to Come, Broken City, Jewel of the Summertime and maybe one other song are the highlights. A lot of the other songs are just like Out of Exile, though - too much of the same. The sound is very repetitive.

I prefer the first album so far, but Revelations is 10x better than Out of Exile.

Yeah, the first album is going to be hard to top. It also had some momentum to it, which the two follow ups never had. Although, I have to say that it's nice to hear Cornell's voice in such good shape. I was getting a little bit worried with the first two albums that his voice would never be even remotely the same again. But it sounds much better on Revelations. And the title track is my favorite so far...

As clever as your sarcasm-laden post was - truly funny stuff - its only purpose was to let us know that you don't like AS. Great. Good for you. But I'd like to clarify that this topic is not whether you like or dislike Audioslave, it's about their third album, Revelations (and surely by their third release, you'd know if you dig 'em or not). So discuss the third album all you want in this thread, but the "AS Rules vs AS Sucks "discussion is reserved for another topic. Please stay on topic and don't turn this into another infamous HTGH versus thread. Sound good? Yeah? Great!

I feel the opposite, Out Of Exile is 10x better than Revelations.

Out Of Exile was a laidback album much like Revelations is, but the melodies and songs are so much better on Exile than the bland songs on Revelations.

I'm still not digging this new album that much, which is a shame, because I loved the first two.

Well the title of the thread is "Audioslave' not "Revelations: Biggest Fucking Disappoinment Ever"

So Izzy is right on topic.

Revelations is growing on me with every listen.  I love the new direction.

Original Fire is the weakest track on the cd IMO.
