AOL has video of all the performances.  If you use AOL at all, go there.  It has a lot of classic clips too!

what a shameful performance for gods sake... What the hell was Weiland singing in Runaround?

I wouldn't like to be a Van Halen fan right now...

OK,

My two cents, coming from a massive fan of VH, STP, GN'R and VR.

"Ain't Talkin 'Bout Love" was pretty cool. Slash messed up the intro, but it was still a good performance. It was at least as good as Van Hagar's live rendition.

"Runaround" is a different story...WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? Why didn't they just play the damn song? Why didn't Weiland learn the words? He just yelled "runaround" for two minutes. Had they even rehearsed it once? It would have been cool as a jam, but for inducting the Mighty Van Halen, they should have leaned the song.

Slash didn't play it in ANY way i've ever seen that is the hardest way I've seen. Hmmm like I had said before Slash and EVH leagues apart , he did a good job at getting most of it down. But as with any slash thing it was dirty you know , not perfect. EVH was ( to me ) about guitar perfection. Yea Runaround was retarded hahaha maybe they thought Sammy didn't deserve it.

I thought the way the played "Runaround" was cool--as a jam, but not for inducting Van Halen!

"It's just not an option for me to go and watch some other band ? who are only performing because they have some new record coming out ? do our music.? I have nothing against Velvet Revolver ? I'm not familiar with their music ? but that was my 3 minutes and 22 seconds up there."

The Van Halen musical tribute consisted of a hardscrabble performance by Velvet Revolver on "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love," followed by a surprisingly rocking Hagar/Paul Shaffer version of "Why Can't This Be Love." Apparently, efforts had been made to involve other Van Halen members in the performance. When asked after the show if Roth had been approached, Velvet Revolver singer Scott Weiland said, "We said that we would do [early Van Halen favorites] 'Jamie's Cryin' ' or 'You Really Got Me,' but he was pretty adamant about doing 'Jump.' But that song's not really us, and we don't have a keyboard player."

Two more reasons why they (VR) shouldn't have been the band to do this "tribute".

What about ''Teddy Zig Zag Andreadis on the harmonica''? I remember reading somewhere, some time ago, that he was going to be added as live keyboardist in VR...

But yes... a keyboardist cant solve Weiland...

In Roth's defense, "Jump" is the song to play if you are honoring VH's legacy. It was VH's first and only #1 hit single - broke a 10 million record album. "1984".  And, it made them all immortal.  Roth should've been allowed to play that song without being over shadowed by that weak rendition of ATBL and "Runaround". Velvet Revolver made a mockery of VH's induction.

I bet Sammy chose "Why Can't This Be Love" as a metaphor for his feeling "why can't this band just get along?" I want to puke.

Well, we've been following the story for a few months now.  He had no choice but to not show up.  Anthony and Hagar are different, because they still play together.  They always stick together, just like the Van Halen brothers.  Where does this leave Dave?  In Albuquerque with Hope and Faith.

Slash was good.
From the three reviews I heard on the radio this morning, they all said Slash "butchered" the Van Halen song.? Undecided
They lied. Slash did a great job.

Slash is my fave guitarist, but were you listening to the same performance that I did?? slash totally fucked up the intro to ATBL which is the EASIEST VH song to play. im not even gonna talk about runaround.

the performance was horrible. And they didnt pay any respect to van halen. Reading off a peice of paper stuttering, Weiland saying "Uh" every 2 seconds.

Wasn't bad. ?I thought the band sounded good but don't know if Scott really fit in on that one. ?I kind of wish Sammy and Micheal would have been up there with them. ?

I was also thinking that might have been a good idea.
