People here are so talented. I like going back through this thread and seeing the old designs. I've wanted to try to make my own cover for fun but I just don't have the talent, nor the time.

Scary, I had a dream a while back where I had a copy of CD (that wasn't the main part of the dream, just a part of it) and the cover looked exactly like that!

Sailing is a song by Rod Stewart from his album Atlantic Crossing which I think is from '75.

Axl loves Rod Stewart and Elton John, so I don't see why not. The cover they did in 2006 was awesome.

Of course, but I strongly doubt it would turn up on a studio album. Maybe as a b-side or a live bonus track or something, yeah..

Doesn't really matter. Live and Let Die is an awesome GNR song and really awesome played live. Good music is good music and I'd just like to hear new stuff from my fav band. But yeah I know what you mean, but the way I see it once Chinese comes out the sooner we'll get other albums too. Soooo, yep.

When I was young and we were bored of waiting for something at school we used to sing this, but substituting the word 'sailing' for 'waiting'.

Kind of ironic really....

Has he said so? Maybe he just likes the song.
Sailing is not originally a rod stewart song. his was also a cover.

I was watching the roundup of 07 f1 on the telly when a friend popped in.
And she still tells people I'm mad keen on kimi. Not fair.  Angry

He's talked about liking Rod Stewart before, but I don't remember where. It gets a little muddy after 20+ years of GNR facts. Anyway if the band performing "Sailing" and him giving Rod a really warm introduction before introducing "Young Turks" in the Grand Theft Auto game are any indication, I'd say he's a big fan just based off that alone.

weak. You'd say Scabbie is another rod fanatic. and avril is huge on GNR.
Maybe he is maybe he isn't. No big deal. but stating a conjecture as a fact is a no-no.

and to such a simplistic thinking, he'd be a big fan of thousand musicians, from Barry manilow, C manson, to the killers or a drunk who sung kohd with him in an osaka pub.
He seems to have a most unbiased appreciation of music. what is the logic of specifying the two.

On topic, every image is great.
for a real cover I'd prefer non photographic art.

That is quite brilliant. I can't wait to see the real deal. It will be so great to finally have a face to the album. It'd be like talking to someone for 10 years over the phone, then finally seeing what they look like. The image, IMO, is gonna be a big factor...
