Singin' tu-lur-a-lei-oh...

So... Right. I was just wondering if somebody could hook me up with a program that converts avi files to... Well, whatever they must be converted to in order to be burned to a DVD. I have been using the divx free converter, but that has now decided that it doesn't want to be free anymore. Other programs that I've come across have either been rubbish or not free.

Go on... Help me out.

Please?

I would probably head over to phazeddl.com and do a search for Convertxtodvd. I'd probably make sure there was a keygen or a serial included in the download or I'd search for one separately on the same site. Probably. Then I'd have a good dvd encoding tool for free.

Once I had that up an running I'd probably download the free programs DVD Decrypter and DVDShrink, just in case I ever needed to make a backup of a DVD for personal use.

You could also use AutoGK for encoding dvd from avi or other sources. It's free but it takes longer than ConvertX and is more resource heavy. Plus you'll have to try a bunch of the download mirrors to find a working one at any given time.

I wasted a lot of time and discs trying to convert .avi to DVD. In the end I bought a $80 Pioneer DVD player which plays Divx, now I can just burn a movie/TV show to cd or 4-5 movies to DVD in minutes and they play fine.

WinAVI is pretty good, but not free. You know how to get around that, right?
