Man, do I absolutely HATE The Fray

Now I'm not one to normally go out of my way to bash bands, as I'd rather be more constructive and discuss music I actually like, but I if I have to hear that fucking song How to Save a Life by the band The Fray, I swear will start shooting people.

Now before you all jump on me and say, don't listen to the radio. Well, unfortunately I'm subjected to commercial radio in the office at my work due to the girls that pick the station we all listen to.

It just doesn't help that the radio plays their fucking song 50 times a day. Who honestly requests this shit?

Yes, I agree that the radio station has been playing that song for too long now......but when it first came out, was very intrigued by it.

Time to play the next song!

I felt the same with with the new Silverchair song - "Straight Lines". Great song but thrashed a little too much - it was like - 'release the new song already!' Thank heaven they finally have! I'm getting the idea that it's a bit of a concept album - has a theme going through it - Straight Lines.....Piet Mondrian filmclips......

So the songs need to be played closer together to get it.

Maybe it's me, but I just don't "get" popular radio over here in Australia. The Fray is just the tip of the iceberg, because I swear, every radio station (at least in Sydney) sounds exactly the fucking same. They repeat the same 5-6 (shit) songs all day, everyday, 7 days a week. What is the idea of playing the same few songs so much that you get sick of them, especially if they're not that good to begin with?

Variety is the spice of life, and I'm sure they have access to much bigger playlists than repeating the same few songs over and over and over again.

Yes, Triple M is promoting itself as Adelaide's Rock Station and for 3 glorious months over summer Adelaide was treated to a plethora of unflogged rock music. I had my radio blaring through open windows non stop, the neighbours over the fence joined in, people were literally headbanging in their backyards. That's when SC came back on over the radio....!

To keep the rock thing happening in Triple M world:

 The current generation LOVE new wave 80s, they also want to know about 70 and 80s ROCK. Triple M are playing some songs by some cool bands (heaps of INXS!) BUT they could up the coolness factor by playing a variety of their songs -

AND NO MORE POWDERFINGER!!!

Remember how 'underground but comercial' SAFM was in the early 80s?

Even better, bring back the extended 8 minute - 11 minute long play songs........The DJ can go out for a long ciggie break, cup o coffee even.....

I am still waiting for Love On The Radio by Skyhooks!
