« on: August 05, 2007, 11:23:46 AM »

Always wanted to Johnny Cash it up a bit.

Anyway one of my big obsessions in life is to travel especially short trips on my days off.....so I thought I'd create a little thread for everyone to show off pics of their vacations or recant adventures on where they've been or where you might be going.  My favorite trips have definitely been to either NYC or San Antonio as both of those cities really know how to throw down in terms of partying.  I don't have any pictures on hand right now, but I'll put some up a bit later.

Chinese Democracy out 2014!

« Reply #7 on: August 05, 2007, 02:52:55 PM »

Went to Stockholm with my girlfriend and her family by this:

Played some miniature golf on the deck:

After spending too much time in the Stockholms terminal (there was one (yes, ONE) dog who had to check every passenger for drugs) we got to the city and saw Donkey and Shrek..:

..and the girls started shopping (I started to regret for not to stay in the ship). I had to get something to drink:

Back in the ship, relaxing and watching the sunset:

By midnight we stopped at Maarianhamina and passed a cool pirateship and not-so-cool Viking Line Mariella:

It was great, as always. Even the little storm during the first night didn't ruin the trip, altough it was pretty sick trying to walk when the floor goes up and down and left and right. I also bought some Jack Daniels -chocolate from Tax Free, it's fuckin' great rofl Wanna get back soon..

SW USA is where I want to go for my next trip.

Agree with you about hiking, camping....nothing beats an amazing view, especially one where you've walked for hours just to get to the perfect spot.  very rewarding.

i have some great pictures from a trip to NZ/AUS a few years ago.  I'll have to post a few here.

Do:

North Rim of grand canyon. If you have time, drive an hour through middle of forest to "east" (unofficial, no services) rim. Absolutely friggin amazing. Of the zillion people that visit that place each year, only a tiny amount go off the beaten path. The east rim is well worth it. It is like having the entire canyon to yourself and whoever else is with you. Pack a lunch and thank me when you get back.

Flagstaff Az, something about that place.

Zion, like dying and going to heaven. Kind of like being at the bottom of the grand canyon, looking up.

Bryce Canyon, like being in a road runner cartoon.

I may very well be hiking some of the AT in the next year or so. Give it a test run and see how I fair. If I can manage, I will drop out for 6 months and do what I am able. You only live once.

one of my best friends has always talked about hiking the AT.  would be great to just hit pause on life like that and hike it.  the number one thing to worry about (or so I've read) is blisters.  they end many AT hikes apparently....

thanks for the SW advice.  ok

haven't done the north rim yet, but totally agree on Flagstaff.  Great place.    I want to do the new "west" rim with the skywalk but heard its a rip off.  But with it being so close to Vegas I'm sure I'll check it out sooner or later.
