He doesnt - he simply makes lazy, unsubstantiated, contrarian political statements so he can feel smarter than "both sides" of whatever debate is taking place, and avoids ever backing up these statements with anything substantive.

How would you tell the difference if you didn't know what country he was from though?

Language - Arabic vs. Farsi
Clothing - based somewhat on tribe, I believe
Religion - He's Sunni, which most Iranians aren't

Of course, I'm not sure I could identify spoken Farsi, and I certainly couldn't identify distinct tribal patterns.
