All these song titles brings up a question.... So far we've seen GN'R cover songs by bands that probably influenced them. Songs that were released some time ago.
So the question is, would you rather have Axl sing something more current than older material by bands like AC/DC, The Who, Rolling Stones and so on?

I've seen people post song titles, but often not mentioning why it would be a good fit for Axl to sing. It's always interesting to hear why you think it would be cool to hear him sing it... Smiley

Smack my bitch up - because Axls voice in that female part of the song would give me goosebumps. Besides, GnR could make a cool cover too, a little Shackler-like.

Think I've mentioned a Hanoi Rocks song here before. That would be cool because Hanoi was a influence, obviously, and because they're the best kept secret in rock n' roll. They deserve attention :-)

In my eyes it is natural to cover bands who've influenced you. But influence doesn't necassary mean a band they loved in their youth....

Is it normal for big name bands to cover newer, smaller bands?  has Axl covered songs that were written after 87'?

Axl can do ACDC really well, I'd love to hear a Black in Black, but I can't see him doing it as he has already covered several songs.

A lot of the Audience are under 30 at the shows, GNR gained a whole new generation of fans after the Greatest Hits.... Including myself. A cover songs of a more recent artist could be a good idea. It goes back to my question though about an older artist complimenting a younger one.

Any song from Ramones! Those guys were a great influence to Axl and would be very nice to hear he sing any song of them. But, to choose one, what about "I Wanna Be Sedated"?! ok

Occasionally. Prince, for instance, has covered Best Of You by Foo Fighters, Creep by Radiohead..

I prefer him doing classics, 60s and 70s rather than current bands.  Perhaps one exception would be him doing something totally unexpected like taking a pop song and making it GN'R style.  Sort of thinking about how Robin and Richard used to jam on Christina Aguilera's Beautiful, but add some Axl vocal style.  Not necessarily a whole song, but maybe intro or do some medley or something.

The other half likes a lot of dance music, and suggests 'Titanium' by David Guetta

I have no idea what it all means

ELO - Rockaria

Axl sang part of it as an intro to Sweet Child in Birmingham in 2006. Cheesy

I wonder why  GNR never did a studio version of "We Will Rock You" considering that Queen was a major influence for Axl.

That would be an excellent swop for KOHD, same participation potential but a (new) nod to Freddie tribute, for what was arguably the best cover ever of this song.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e63eoji1d0I

As well as Frank Sinatra's 'My Way', I also feel Axl would do an amazing job singing 'I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues' by Elton John.  Wink

I agree.. would be cool to hear Axl sing that song. Frank is also a tool fan, and have played with Tool live, so has Chris!

"Gold On The Ceiling" by The Black Keys, because it's a great melody and a somewhat different rhythm/feel than the average GN'R cover songs. I would also have mentioned "Sway" by The Stones, but they've already covered that one...
