VAN HALEN frontman Sammy Hagar spoke to Doug Podell of Detroit's WRIF 101.1 FM earlier this month about the speculation that VAN HALEN may be finished as a band now that the group have completed their North American tour. Asked to comment on the band's current status in light of the recent reports that Sammy is embarking on a solo tour, Hagar said, "There's really not much to say except, you know, we did it ? we did the big tour last year. I don't wanna just do that every year. I mean, I love my band, I love what I do solo, too, and I don't get that in VAN HALEN. VAN HALEN is one thing, and what I do solo is another, and it's two different things, and I couldn't just say I'm only gonna do one. If there's ever a possibility for another VAN HALEN tour, I'd be interested down the road or something, but right now, we just did it and rather than do that again, I wanna go out and play 'Mas Tequila' and 'One Way to Rock'. It's really funny ? as an artist, I've had so many songs that I've written and done, made records? you can't just leave that alone. So last year, the WABORITAS, we went down and played Cabo for New Year's Eve, we played three nights, and we had so much fun, we came back and we started rehearsing. I said, 'No, let's put together a whole different show [to the one] we did last year,' and I just got? count 'em here, about 300 songs that I've recorded and written solo that I need to? I just need to play 'em. And my band loves to go out and tour. So we're doing the WABOS this year.

"I'm sure we'll do [another VAN HALEN tour] again sometime. The first 11 years I was in VAN HALEN, it was like no solo stuff ? it was pure VAN HALEN ? but after going out with my band for seven years, I got really used to it and it got good to me, so I couldn't ever do just one or the other type of thing. You know what I mean?! It would be like? If everybody could stay happy, then we could do it. But I mean, it was great. The VAN HALEN tour was fanstastic. Some of the highlights of that tour were certainly in the Detroit area ? those shows were on fire, Joe Louis arena. Those were some of the best shows we did."

Sammy only sings, Jump, Panama, Ain't Talkin' Bout Love, and You Really Got Me. Once in a while he'll sing Unchained. I do like Sammy, but I just think VH w/Roth was better. I like Sammy Hagar solo stuff a lot, esp. his 80s Geffen albums.

According to MelodicRock.com, Sammy Hagar was interviewed on St. Louis radio station KSHE-FM Monday (April 25) and spoke about a couple of interesting things. Sammy said he and VAN HALEN drummer Alex Van Halen are great friends and "will remain great friends." He also stated that there is no VAN HALEN activity planned, adding that he was "done with it." In solo news, Sammy stated that he is planning a bigger tour for the WABORITAS in coming months and has built his own studio called Red Rocker Recording Studio. Meanwhile, Hagar has recorded a new song which will be released shortly as an Internet download. The song, "Let Me Take You There", is a cover of a track "I'll Take You There", made famous by the STAPLE SINGERS in the '70s and adapted by the Red Rocker to match his persona.

According to ABC ePrep, VAN HALEN singer Sammy Hagar says that while he and guitarist Eddie Van Halen patched up the rift between them, they're "not as friendly as I would've wanted to be." Still, as Hagar told the New York Daily News, the members of VAN HALEN got along well on their reunion tour last year "until the end, when we were getting on each other's nerves. There was no real leader, so we started doing the same show every night. There was no spontaneity, and that got to me." That's not likely to be the case with Hagar's current tour with his band THE WABOS. Hagar says his show will be classic Hagar, "but I'm going to add a few new things and the show will be cooking."

Hagar is friends with celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse, and he says he's going to appear on Lagasse's Food Network show on May 17.

Here are Hagar's tour dates, according to Pollstar:

May 06 - Atlantic City, NJ @ Borgata Hotel/Casino
May 07 - Mashantucket, CT @ Foxwoods Casino
May 10 - Green Bay, WI @ Oneida Casino
May 12 - Detroit, MI @ Fox Theatre
May 13 - Rosemont, IL @ Rosemont Theatre
May 14 - Maryland Heights, MO @ UMB Bank Pavilion
Aug. 13 - Lake Tahoe, NV @ Harrah's Tahoe

I agree!  ok

What is the deal with DLR?  He gets busted with a joint, drives and ambulance, does back yard gigs, and looks 65 years old!  On the other hand Sammy, who is older than DLR, looks awesome!  Cool

David Lee Roth era........Everyone knows that, I thought. I guess to each his own, but the feeling I get just talking to people, the "true" VH fans are all about DLR.
