Its obvious that silouette is of Axl Rose. Why would they have that on their site if their not hinting at the fact Guns will perform or Axl will be making some sort of appearence? At this point its a strong possibility they will be there. Oh, btw, they have toured on and off for the past 7 years without an album release date. I of course hope the album is soon but I can easily see them touring again without the release date being known to the public.  smoking
Yeah I agree they COULD tour again without an album.  They've done it before, so it certainly could happen again.  I'd like to think this time around would be different and they'd get the album out before they do so, but it is a possibility.  I don't however think they would play any NEW songs if they did in fact perform.  We've heard enough of the album that has no release date in sight already, in my opinion.  I'd like SOME of the songs to be mysteries when the album eventually does come out.

Even if the silhouette is him, if you look at the Historical part of the site under '06, Guns N' Roses name is first on the little flash. They could just be using his silhouette because they were one of 2006's biggest performers.

Ya but why advertise a past performer if the performer is not performing? I do understand nothings been confirmed and this is all speculation on my part, but i think having that up gives a hint at what will come not what has happened. smoking

Im sure we would hear first from guns n ross/axl if they were touring, before we would hear or see a "silhouette of axl"
announcing gnr playing....

Actually, if memory serves me correctly, most RIR shows have confirmed GNR's appearance well before any official word from Axl/band/management.  I know this especially to be the case for RIR in 2001.  It's been the festival's head organizers that have let the public know of Guns playing the show well before Axl made mention of it.  In fact, this is the case for many tour dates from 2006/2007.  We often saw dates announced for the first 10-15 shows before any official word from the band.  This is how it has usually be done in the past, which leads me to think that this is how it will be done in the future.

Cheers,

Andrew

As soon as his silhouette comes in, the word EU VOU flashes over it. Here's a commercial from the last time they were to play at rio, at the end Axl says EU VOU. The silhouette of him and the words over it might just be a marketing concept taken from this commercial and nothing more. Marketing techniques.

in theory GNR should be put before tokio hotel for June 28 slot like Shakira before Jamiroquai.  Tongue

seriously, when there's a show we always hear from the promoter first. lets wait and see.

I don?t think they are the headliners. They?re just the only band confirmed so far for that day...

No those are the headliners for each day. Shakira was added today and the current schedule is below. GNR is obviously a headlining name, so if they play, I'd expect them to play on the 27th and open the Madrid show.

Headliners RIR Lisbon
May 30: Lenny Kravitz, Amy Winehouse
May 31: Bon Jovi
June 1: Rod Stewart
June 5: Metallica, Machine Head, Apocalyptica
June 6: TBA

Headliners RIR Madrid
June 27: TBA
June 28: Tokyo Hotel
July 4: Shakira, Jamiroquai, Amy Winehouse
July 5: The Police
July 6: Lenny Kravitz, Franz Ferdinand, Chris Cornell

That's interesting because Shakira, Jamiroquai and Sting already played at the 2006 edition in Lisbon and this time they'll play in Madrid. That could lead to think that GNR would play in Madrid, not in Lisbon.

Maybe. Nevertheless GNR and RIR go together since 1991.

My advice is for everybody not to bring their hopes up. Let's wait for the "BIG NAME".
When my insider told me about Bon Jovi f.ex., it wasn't regarded as "big".
All I know is that the organization is keeping this name very secret...

Oh, sorry, but my biggest wish for the "big name" is Led Zeppelin  Grin

I think this would be a really cool way to announce the album's release.

Surprised the rumour hasn't been shot down yet... Shocked

I still don't think it's right to advertise this year's show with a picture of an artist that has been performing there in the past. That's what the history section is there for!  Angry Yeah, it's called advertising and they do things like that all the time, but they could have picked someone who's going to play there this year. They've had plenty of time to make that flash movie after the performers have been announced.

I'm totally shocked!!!
Tokio Hotel is a headliner at Rock in Rio Madrid!!

Well Hoping for GNR!!
I don't know, when was it 2006 sure that GNR will perform in the same year?

K saw on page 2
"Last time GNR was announced for RIR was the 20. Feb..."
If GNR will play it should be announced soon!
