i think this title is misleading. the cancelation of one show doesnt mean a tour is cancelled.

VELVET REVOLVER Cancels Australian Tour - Feb. 10, 2008

According to Undercover News, VELVET REVOLVER has cancelled this week's Australian tour, just days after singer Scott Weiland voluntarily entered a rehab facility.

As of late last week, the Aussie shows were still planned to go ahead, according to promoter Chris O'Brien, but today the band has pulled out of the tour.

The official statement from KWS Productions reads as follows: "VELVET REVOLVER regret to announce they're unable to perform their five upcoming concert dates in Australia that were scheduled for February 15-20. The cancellation of these shows will allow lead singer Scott Weiland to continue treatment at a rehab facility which he voluntarily entered after the band's February 6 performance in Los Angeles. VELVET REVOLVER deeply apologize to their fans in Australia and thank them for sticking by the group when various members have relapsed during the last year and a half. The band ? lead vocalist Scott Weiland, guitarist Slash, bassist Duff McKagan, drummer Matt Sorum and guitarist Dave Kushner ? are on track to perform at the Dubai Desert Rock Fest in Dubai, UAE on March 8, to be followed by their UK tour March 15-27."

Tickets can be taken back to point of purchase for a refund.

The first Australian show is in just a couple of days.

I assume that the band would arrive there earlier than on show day.....

We should know soon enough.

Edit: Well, there you go!

I'd have to agree.  The writing seems to be on the wall, as they say.  From the rehab and the problems Scott has caused the band in the recent months, to the STP reunion.  It certainly seems to be the end.  It was a good run, but I'd have to say a little unfulfilling, if it is indeed over.  In other words, I expected far more from this lineup.

I know that alot people don't like Velvet Revolver, im just holding out hope that its too soon to throw dirt on the bands grave. I guess that not wanting one of my favorite bands to break up is worth the negative karma for stating a fact that now has been disproven by the australian tour's cancelation

I'm not responsible for that one.

I don't know who is, but I'll take care of it.

In addition, I think it was fair to keep the thread title since it was unlikely (in my opinion) that the band would go to Australia in less than a week after Scott went to rehab.

Its a shame.  I really enjoy Libertad.  And Scott when sober is a cool chille out dude.  I hope he finds his way.

I listened to Libertad deluxe version tonight thinking the band was over.  There is a shit load of talent in this band.  On the album, Scott sounds fantastic on some songs.  I just feel like this band never quite got there musically for what they are capable of.  You get glimpses on libertad. I was hopeful the 3rd album would be the charm.

Well...they're still scheduled for Europe, in a month....that gives Scott almost a month in rehab  nervous....we'll have to see what happens.

Everyone's talking like it's over.  Maybe it is.  Then, maybe it's not.  I'm not ready to throw in the proverbial "towel" on this band, yet.

Maybe the people that "matter" are giving up?

Who'll book them if they plan on going back to Australia?

Their touring market is shrinking....

I can't guarantee I'll re book, I lost plenty of money on airfares and accomodation the first time as they postponed too close to the scheduled dates and now with the cancellation I'll lose out as I'm flying to Sydney and staying for 3 days with no show to see!

VR fucking sucks. Yes, I said it. This sort of behavior is inexcusable. I hope they sack Scott and start looking for another vocalist or that Slash would start work on his solo album. Tongue
