The pressure of rooting for your driver to win the biggest race in the world!

I understand now.  Grin

As far as this coming weekend in Chicago, I'm very happy to see NASCAR has moved both the Grand National and Cup races to night. This will make it a little more interesting to watch. Chicago has been another one of those tracks that's been plain out boring to watch for me.

With the new car, it will be worse!

Even though the track has several racing grooves, it is way too narrow and does not have enough banking.

With the old car, you could at least count on for some cool crashes, but with the wing on the new car, we won't even have that.

Tony Stewart released from JGR

By JENNA FRYER, AP Auto Racing Writer

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP)?Joe Gibbs Racing will release Tony Stewart from his contract at the end of the season, ending an incredibly successful decade in which they won two championships and turned the organization into one of NASCAR?s best.

Stewart was expected to address JGR employees Wednesday, with an official announcement planned later in the day. In a release obtained by the Associated Press, team president J.D. Gibbs called the parting ?bittersweet.?

Stewart?s departure opens the door for him to buy a NASCAR team. He?s had an offer since April to purchase the fledgling Haas-CNC two-car team.

Those Indiana boys are gonna make for some awesome teammates!  (Stewart and Newman)

If anyone can make the driver/owner thing work, it's Stewart.

Will Zippy follow?

I haven't heard if Greg Zipadelli will go with Tony or not. I sure hope he goess with Tony though.

I don't think Tony was ever happy with the switch in manufactures. He has a lot of Chevrolet interest, I think he even owns a Chevrolet dealership. I also heard there were people from Chevrolet pushing and hoping for this change as well.

I heard that Chevrolet bought out his contract with JGR!  Cheesy

Here's how the Bowtie Hierarchy will look like.

Hendrick
RCR
Stewart/Haas
DEI

I just hope GM can continue supporting NASCAR.  They have taken big financial hits lately.

I'm hearing more of the same about Chevrolet buying out Tony's contract too.

It looks like Tony could be in the #14, #66(currently driven unsuccessfully by Scott Riggs), or #77 car for 2009. I hope he's in the #14 car. I can't wait for all the sponsorship talk to begin.

You were right on about the race last night. BORING! I couldn't even watch it. Watched most of the Tour de France replay and that was a hundred times more interesting than the live NASCAR event. Also watched a bit of the IRL until rain shortened that race.

GAYle won again.

More like, Jimmie gave the win to him.  I really don't like it when the leader takes the field down slowly for the green flag.  That is the best way to lose a race.  GAYle was right on his bumper and pulled out on the outside.

At least he got stuck in the mud while attempting to slide through the grass.

I wish Junior could afford that luxury.  Embarrassed

ESPN/ABC take over for the rest of the season!

Anyone else notice with TNT the audio between the race and commercials is so drastic? Everytime I'm watching I have to press mute for the commercials because it's so damn loud.

For me, both the sound for the race and commercials are so loud. FOX is the same way on their coverage. I can barely hear the commentators sometimes because of how loud their pumping the volume up on engine noise and race noise. Talk about irritating. It drives me freakin' crazy that they do this.

I think you were right again on Tony and Ryan being teammates starting in 2009.

I'm already excited for next season!

ESPN/ABC would be perfect, except for one thing.

They need to take Brent Musburger out back and have him shot.

If the coverage is anything like ABC's coverage of the Indy 500 this year, it will be commercial break heaven.  rant

Jenkins?  If he calls races for MRN/PRN, I'm all for it!

They make the races sound so exciting.

Yeah Jenkins. I guess I just enjoyed him back in the day when I first started watching NASCAR around 1992/93.

I can easily listen to the guys on MRN. They do a great job and the race coverage on the radio goes so smooth.

Turn down the volume on TV and crank up the radio.

I would SO do that if I got MRN out here.

I grew up doing this exact thing with Auburn University football games. My father would turn down the volume on the television and turn up the Auburn Network on the radio.

I can't do this with NASCAR....lol.  rofl   It's either/or for me now.
