Pick your top three, keeping in mind you can change it later.

For me:

1. Nine Inch Nails-The Slip
2. The Verve?Fourth
3. Coldplay--Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends

Black Stone Cherry - Folklore and Superstition

And hopefully I will be able to add Chi Dem and Black Ice to this list, if they get released and are decent.  Smiley

The only albums released in 2008 I have are The Slip, Saints Of Los Angeles and Def Leppard's Songs From The Sparkle Lounge. I only got into a coupla songs on The Slip, haven't listened to SOLA enough to judge. I guess SFTSL is my choice so far.

Hopefully I can add Black Ice and CD to that list and I'll probably get Death Magnetic too at some point...

So far nothing new as far as releases go (that I didn't purchase). The David Gilmour DVD On and Island performing at the Royal Albert Hall was really good.
Other than that I guess I'll check out the new AC-DC cd coming out.
Did anyone here like the new Motley Crew cd??? Is it worth buying or is there only one or two tracks good???

I did purchase some remasters of the past:
AC-DC For those about to rock
Ratt- 1981-1991 compliation
Ozzy- No more Tears
The Doors- Absolutley Live
and something that is far off progressive but actually was number one when it was first released:
ATOM HEART MOTHER - Pink Floyd- Remastered.........(I had to buy it in honor of Richard Wright)

Quality album beer

I do this thing where I buy an album, listen to it and then only listen to certain songs from it again. I should probably go back and listen to them more often...

My apologies if this thread has already been started, but I figured since we're at the end of 2008...  What are your favs from this year?

1.   Guns N' Roses - Chinese Democracy (rather obvious right?)
2.   Raconteurs - Counselors of the Lonely
3.   Steve Poltz - Traveling/Unraveling
4.   Scott Weiland - Happy in Galoshes
5.   Brian Vander Ark - Brian Vander Ark
6.   The Black Keys - Attack and Release
7.   Decoding the Tomb Bansheebot - Buckethead (a late 2007 tour only CD that was made available in 2008)
8.   Stew - Passing Strange (musical soundtrack)
9.   Frankenstein Brothers - Bolt on Neck
10. Metallica - Death Magnetic

I have a feeling there are others I am forgetting, but off the top of my head these are the ones that come to mind.

I can only go off the albums I purchased and or heard in full, and that's only a handfull or so.

1) Guns N' Roses - Chinese Democracy
2) Metallica - Death Magnetic
3) Disturbed - Indestructible
4) Def Leppard - Songs From The Sparkle Lounge
5) Motley Crue - Saints Of Los Angeles
6) Scars On Broadway - Scars On Broadway
7) AC/DC - Black Ice (Only because I heard the album in full ONCE.  I didn't care enough for it to buy it but I didn't listen to any other albums in full, so it takes the final spot by default.)

1. GN'R - Chinese Democracy
2. Opeth - Watershed
3. Enslaved - Vertebrae
4. Cynic - Traced In Air
5. Ihsahn - Angl
6. Deicide - Til Death Do Us Part
7. Metallica - Death Magnetic

These are the only new albums I bought from 2008.  There is a drop in quality from 5th to 6th but the top five are brilliant albums.  Metallica's album is quite disappointing for many reasons.  They're creatively finished imo.

This year I got CD, Black Ice, Death Magnetic, Saints Of LA, Songs From The Sparkle Lounge and uh, The Slip. I haven't really listened to them all enough to rank them but I suppose CD would be at the top. Tongue

I also got the Rolling Stones live album Shine A Light, which I thought was quite good. yes

It has been a good year for new albums, extremely so to be honest, I cannot remember the last time I heard this many good albums, only stuff that I heard this year that stands out as being a bit crap would be AC/DC & M?tley Cr?e's records.  Only record I haven't got round to yet that I want to is the Alice Cooper one.
