So sorry I missed this... but what an enjoyable read.

Thank you so much for stopping in Axl and for all the wonderful art you have brought to the world- and a million thanks to Jarmo, Fernando and anyone else "behind the scenes" that helped facilitate it.

Great job by those of you who were here too. Some fantastic questions asked (really glad the Robin issue and the Brian May solo got addressed in particular).

2009 looks like it's shaping up to be an outstanding year in the world of GN'R!

Have a great holiday Axl and a happy, healthy and successful new year! Enjoy it! You deserve it! beer

Kudos to Jarmo for having little issue with handling last night's insane amount of traffic.  In response to the poster who felt that Axl was dodging questions, I have to point out that most of Axl's answers to the "bigger" issues raised were thought-out, articulate, extensive paragraphs that went well beyond standard yes/no responses.

Axl,

- What is your honest opinion on why the old lineup disintegrated ?

- What is your honest opinion on why it took so long for CD to come out ?

I think that's what most people want to know but dare not ask ...

2 great but complicated questions and I agree that people would like to know at least my take on things.

Not avoiding them here but they deserve more than I can give as we've been at this a little while. But I'm attempting to speak out on several issues these being a major focus over the coming weeks and months. What I can say now is u've been told a lot of things in order for others to promote themselves that factually they cannot backup in regard to either. They are complicated legally, financially and have devoured a good portion of my life.

The record Chinese u may have is nothing short of a miracle in almost each and every way that either it or I exist imo under the bizarre and ugly conditions of the last over 15yrs.

Thanks everyone and thanks for all the support and the positive comments both 2nite and over the years. I hope to do this again soon, maybe sooner than u'd think! And u didn't scare me off I'm just burnt and would rather not misspeak on issues that may mean a lot to some.

Thanks again.

Peace,

Axl-

And Checkmate is a bogus title
The working title is Jackie Chan. Cool

I get a good laugh at the bold part. That we may have! HAHA I don't know anyone who didn't buy at least 2.

There is the answer though to his take on the old band etc. If u read, seems like a major Mag interview or something could be on the horizon.

Also, Axl types his you's "U" like Me and Prince! how awesome is that!

How very unique! Shocked
j/k hihi Good for you! ok

What a truly amazing thing. I hope that helps ease the posters who somehow think Axl wants to fail or purposely treat them bad. For the most part, things are exactly what you'd think, and Axl Rose is the fucking man.

When he talks about "the bizarre and ugly conditions of the last over 15yrs," it's a shame to hear (and i wish him the best from here on)... but it makes sense with the emotional impact Chinese Democracy has had for some of us. It is absolutely the only album i've ever heard that feels like it's talking about all the difficulties of a decades time. It's the expression I alone could never make. It's exciting to think that this music and the coming progress of GNR could correspond to my life. It's kind of like all the years I waited for the album, and the sad life memories that go with it, well hey, that's all done now. It's hear, and it sounds like me -all things are possible again. Amazing times.

And i second all that. I'm proud to be on this board with how well that went last night... and i'm even more proud to have supported Axl with the honesty cool and courage that he can handle himself on display like that. (It's almost as if the media depiction of the crazy recluse made us forget the personality we had already met).
Anyway point being, he actually answered a lot of the toughest and most pertinent questions posed, and he didn't have to do that.

when he skirted the questions, he did it with alot of humor; but all his answers were well thought out and very articulate.  having not heard from him in so long, you forget he can be such a cool interview; great job!

I was lucky enough to catch it when I started working this morning. I followed my daily routine (check the board within the first 15 mins) and I saw 400 people are online.  First I thought all the fuss was because of GNR's management denying reunion rumors but that thread was being viewed by 2 people. Then I clicked on "Axl on better music video and more" - which I  thought and still think was misleading. The freaking title should've said "Axl is online now talking to us"

Anyway, I clicked on the thread and there were about 20 pages. First 15 were just copy / paste of the answers he'd given at mygnr, so I was just on time for the real deal.

I didn't really ask any questions, I guess I was shocked - just like everyone else - to have Axl chatting with all of us in a very natural way. It sure was an extraordinary experience...

As a mod, it was damn hard too. I mean, how can you mod something like that? Besides, I was too focused on Axl posts to really worry about what everyone else was saying  hihi

Now, hours later it's hit me. I just can't believe Axl Rose spend a few hours with all of us. It feels so unreal!

Not here to cause a stir or anything, but he did question dodge quite a bit. Especially when it came to questions about Slash and the old band, or who the lyrics to sorry are about.

you are not causing a stir, cause most people just dont give a shit about this at this time.  Slash is the farthest thing from my mind right now as far as GNR is concerned.  Your observations are correct, he did skirt a bit, but all i am thinking of is a video and seeing the tour, I just dont care about Slash anymore, and I think after last night, alot less people who loved him in GNR (which I did) just dont see this a relevant as Axl hinting at another release next year and a tour.

Slash was great though ok

Yawn (waking up)...so did I miss anything last night?  OH, SHIT!  Shocked

^That was me a couple of hours ago! Then I got about 20 pages in, and my internet went down (ice storm)!  I just finished reading, and what a great night...I hope next time his/our connections hold up, and he can answer more questions.
It's not letting me answer anyone.

I do like the lyrics.

I wrote a paragraph or so on the new booklet and more on the story of what's out now but it got lost in the traffic jam.
Seemed to really want to give us info on the booklet, and some new song titles, too bad he wasn't able to...I wish there was a way to limit the stream of questions (like raising your hand in class) so that he had a chance to answer them...looks like it was a bit frustrating on both ends - but thats the nature of the net - and I am surprised the server held up!  Thanks, Axl, even though I missed it live - it was a great read...and thanks again, Jarmo - for the site which pipelined Axl right into our homes!

PS - read the transcript from 'official' story...WTF is wrong with people (the first several lines where a kid on the 'other' board is attacking him)?  Glad to see nobody here, went there.

Ever reply in a 'hot' topic, and it keeps popping up '3 new posts, read before posting' or something like that...based on what I see, he was probably getting rejected every time he hit 'post' and just moved on...or if he was doing what I do, he hit post and closed the window, without realizing it went to the 'new posts' screen.  I have 'lost' posts that way, trying to multitask.  hihi

See, if i had just read the NEW posts below, whe I got the warning, I wouldn't have even wasted everyones time posting this!  hihi  Delete me!

Probably the Failure to Communicate prompt.

Or the warning, other replies posted thingy.

I just got through all of those pages.  Very fucking cool of Axl to join in on our fun.

The best part for me was the little tidbit about Robin's parts for the next record being finished.

I wonder how far along they are with the follow-up.

I would have asked Axl: "How far along are you with the vocals for the next album".
