Have our tickets as well, now have 2 set up airfare and lodging.  Thought we were going to be driving, but closest show would have been 675 miles to Calgary, which would have not really been a big deal, it certainly would have been a  beautiful drive for sure, but I have 28,000 free flight miles, so going to use some up ok

What area is everybody sitting in?  Or are you in GA?  We will be in section 101.....

Going to see Axl & his crew in Montreal beer
It will be Axl's first time in Montreal in over 17 years.
GNR was banned from playing in Montreal in 1992
after a riot broke out at Olympic Stadium. I was at
that show it was nuts. Metallica & Faith No More
were both on that bill as well. Besides that show
I was lucky to see GNR a few months before the
Use Your Illusion albums came out while Izzy was
still in the band. I am really looking foward to seeing
this new lineup and all. It should be a great show.
Anyone else on the board going?

I know nothing about Montreal, so I'm leaving it up to someone else to make arrangements, not to be rude Tongue.  I love the idea and have done it a few times, it's great to meet up with fellow "Gunners" from the board ok.

I would like to throw my hat in the ring for the Irish Embassy on Bishop Street.

While, on the face of it, another run of the mill faux Irish establishment, it does seem to have a half-decent drinks list:

http://www.irish-embassy.com/drink-e.htm

About 5 mins walk from the Centre Bell and hopefully will not be completely rammed like a few of the other establishments that are slightly nearer are bound to be. They do food as well and, most importantly, I can have a pint of Kilkenny.

Jarmo - can you amend my name on the attendees list for Toronto and Montreal - thought I should recognise my roots more...

Does my suggestion work for those that are more local (i.e. same continent)?

See u guys there. Bars on cresent or Bishop are good and near the show. Other cool bars can be found just north of St Catherine on St Laurent and St Denis but will need a taxi to get to the show. The old town is cool to but probably dead in January for a pre-show. I usually hit Mcgibbens on a Thurday night, have never been to The Irish Embassy but whatever, I am happy with both.

But I am guessing no Kilkenny or Beamish here - oh well, will refuel next time I go to southern Ireland.

Well done Jarmo.  Greg we can meet earlier as the Irish Embassy which is only 30 seconds from Mcgibbens to sink some some ales. I am a Ex-Brit but live near Montreal. For accomodation you may want to consider the Quality inn which is a few minutes from mcgibbens and 5 mins from the Bell Centre. $100 canadian or $120 for a double. You can get a metro in no time to get you to Berri Uqam to catch your bus for Toronto. The train to Toronto which you can advance book cheaply goes beside the Bell centre which takes you directly to Toronto. Look out for cheap flights which takes 45 mins.

That sounds like a plan.

Cheers for the recommendation - will check it out. I had planned to take the greyhound bus - double the time but half the cost but I see I can get a train for 77 canadian dollars. Hmm. We will see.

Nearer the time we can sure up plans. Should be a great day.

I would go for the train...or if there is a group of you doing the dates from Montreal to Quebec City hire a car. Gas is cheaper here than Europe.

Due to unfortunate circumstances, msaxl and husband will not be attending this show as planned.  Sometimes you just can't help things that are out of your control and this is one of those times.

We are not going to try to sell our tickets, but shall scrapbook them instead, the funds we spent on airfair were refundable, and since there is such a huge need in Haiti, Scott and I will be donating our airfair funds to this cause.  We figured the money was already spent once, so why not donate it, it is not much, 1,637.00 to be exact, but am sure every donation will help in its own way.  God Bless all of them.

I hope that all of you going to the show have an excellent time, enjoy yourselves and be safe, wish I were able to attend, so drink a Tequila shot for us in celebration of our 20th wedding anniversary while you are there.

Whats up guys, I'm gonna be attending the GNR show wednesday the 27th in montreal. However, I'm actually a bartender at the london pub (corner of maisonneuve and cresent) and since it's my favorite band, I'm doing my best to start a pre show party. I'm gonna be playing GNR all day, have happy hour from 3 to 8 and free hot dogs all day. It would be awesome to meet new GNR fans from montreal and abroad, so if your interested stop by, hope it'll be a blast.
