I'm just lucky with my picks......just like everyone else. Simple as that!  Wink

I really hope Kevin Harvick wins races and contends for the NASCAR Championship this year. Kevin's contract with RCR is up at the end of the 2010 season and I'd love to see him join Tony Stewart's racing team in 2011 if things at RCR don't improve this year. As for Dale Jr., maybe he'll get his act together and win some races too, but I won't start believing that he wants to race to win until I see it.

I wish I could hang out with Sarah Palin and Danica Patrick at the Daytona 500 weekend this year!  love

Denny Hamlin caused a seven-car wreck in practice today. His antics on the track just drive me most of the time. I hope Mark Martin really gave him an earful afterward.

I heard Kevin Harvick is suffering from flu-like symptoms and missed the Bud Shootout practice today. I hope he'll get well quickly so he'll be ready to race in the Shootout this Saturday night.

I don't see that same "intimidator" style from Denny. He's definitely a good driver, he's just one that seems to create or is at the center of a lot of wrecks.

I'm really looking forward to the Bud Shootout on Saturday night. Will you be watching Garry, or anyone else?

Well, there can never be another Intimidator, but Hamlin has come the closest.  Harvick showed some flashes of that early in his career, but maybe that's because he was driving what would have been Earnhardt's chassis'.  If Hamlin can ever string together a consistent season without mechanical issues, he can dominate the sport.

If Junior weren't around and if Hamlin wasn't driving a Recalloyota, he would definitely be my favorite driver.

I'll be watching the Busch Clash tomorrow.  I hope it's a good one.  I'll also watch the ARCA race!

Go Danica!

Danica just made contact with another car and ended up spinning out. She didn't make contact with the wall, so no heavy damage, just some damage on the right front of the car.

Good for Kevin, but I would have liked the GWC to have reached its conclusion under green flag conditions.  I hate it when races end under caution.

Martin wins the pole, Junior next to him.  That goes to show that they have some killer horsepower, hopefully Junior stays in front the whole race.  He was awful during the Shootout.

I agree, it would have been better if the race would have finished under a green flag. Dale Jr. started up front like most times and faded away during the race.

It sounds like more than likely Danica will race in the Grand National race this coming Saturday.

I'm planning to join the fantasy league this week when I've got some time.  Smiley

The rule is, you only have one chance to finish the race under green if a caution comes out with a few laps to go.

Green
White
Checkered

That's two laps.  If a caution comes out during "overtime," the field is frozen and the race is over.

Looking forward to the Duels.

For those of you that still somewhat give a shit about Jr., there's a good article on NASCAR.com : http://www.nascar.com/2010/news/features/02/10/inside.nascar.dearnhardtjr.hendrick.season/index.html

Also, another new rule change this year...it seems we will now get 3 attempts at a Green-White-Checkered. http://www.nascar.com/2010/news/headlines/cup/02/11/multiple.green.white.checkered/index.html

NASCAR has definitely taken some steps to try and get the same fire it had several years ago. Many rule changes have come this past off-season for the cars and races, and there's also been a lot of changes to help the tracks and fans as well.

I woke up from my slumber and turned on my TV and it was lap 5!   Lips Sealed

This race has been boring.

Here's a list of things I have been doing during the red flag, which is completely ridiculous by the way.

I shaved.
I showered.
I brushed my hair.
I blow-dried my hair.
Called up my bitch for today.
I'm posting this ridiculous message.

What to do next?

Fuck you NASCAR.

This red flag has killed a lot of enthusiasm. Hopefully once they get the race started again, the last 78 laps will be great.

Here's the first few paragraphs from an article on NASCAR.com http://www.nascar.com/2010/news/opinion/02/14/inside.line.dcaraviello.88.saves.500/index.html

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- It had become nothing short of a fiasco, with a pothole in the track surface leaving the grandstands half-empty, and multiple green-white-checkered attempts leaving race cars fully wrecked. After nearly six hours, with spectators shivering in a cold and dark they had not expected, it was drawing comparisons to the tire debacle that had plagued Indianapolis Motor Speedway two years ago. It was difficult to find anyone outside of a driver suit who wasn't prepared to label the Daytona 500 as a disaster.

And who could argue with them? Twice the race had to be halted under a red flag because of a hole that developed from unseasonably cold temperatures, a fissure in the low groove of Turn 2 that likely chewed up one of Jimmie Johnson's tires and later took a bite out of Clint Bowyer's front splitter. Fans began to stream out of the gates long before the event finally ended. Drivers cursed over the radio and sparks flew as cars bottomed out trying to a avoid a spackle-colored patch. All the momentum NASCAR had built over the last two weeks, with the furious finishes in the qualifying races and the mania over Danica Patrick, seemed swallowed by a football-shaped gap in the asphalt.

And then came Junior.

If only Junior had stayed midpack or even finished last.

Why did he have to tease me like that?  I actually believed in him during the last mile.

I was shaking for a good 30 minutes after that.

Jamie McMurray...I'm very happy for him.

Great win for Jamie McMurray and I'm very happy for him! Dale Jr. made that last lap push which was unbelievable. He looked just like his father beating and banging his way to the front. It was such a tease for Dale Jr. to come from so far back and so close to winning the race at the end. Kevin Harvick would have won if not for the last crash. I was going crazy at that point!  yes

I loved the victory lane interview of Jamie and how he talked about after winning the race at Talladega, he and his wife went to McDonald's for dinner to celebrate and he said he thought he'd go back again last night for dinner and to celebrate again.  Cool

Anyone going to any races this year? Two weeks until Vegas. I've been lazy and still haven't got tickets yet. Usually I'm on top of it. I'll figure it out though. Want to go to another track this year too though. Been thinking about Pheonix in the fall...it's only like a 5 hour drive. Fontana is closer, but those races are usually boring as shit.

The pothole catastrophe was a complete debacle. They can't let this happen again at any track, especially at Daytona during the race of NASCAR's Superbowl.

I think it's time that Daytona was re-surfaced. You can't have this happening during races. it's too dangerous for the competitors and it's embarrassing for the sport when you have to red-flag a race to fix the problem.

Regarding the fantasy league, are you not able to pick any driver(s) from the field that you want to start the current race track? Are you stuck with the drivers that you selected before the Daytona 500, for the rest of the year?

It's a real shame if your stuck with the original eight drivers you select for the first race, for the rest of the season. I feel you should be able to pick any eight drivers from the qualifying field to start the race for your team.

I have no idea why California has two races, doesn't NASCAR know about our year-long monsoon season?  hihi

I don't know if you watch those lower-level NASCAR series, but there's a track outside Pasadena called Irwindale...that little short track would be a perfect fit for the Sprint Cup Series.

It's like IRP in the Nationwide Series.  3 grooves of nonstop racing.

I'm on board. Anything but this monotonous "interstate" type racing with everyone spread so far out. It's just like watching cars pass by on a street in front of the house.

I'd rather do that.  I might capture a cougar's attention that way.

Kevin Harvick came so close once again to winning the race today. He was about to pass Jimmie Johnson with a few laps remaining and brushed up against the wall which took away all of his momentum. Good win for Jimmie though.

Well, I gotta say it was somewhat better racing than I've seen at Fontana before....but not much. Easily the most boring two races of the season. But by seeing the stands, if I decide I wanna go there this fall, I know I can easily get great seats at the last minute.

On that note...I just got my tickets to Vegas on Friday....still got some pretty great seats too.....Vegas usually sells out, or gets very close to it. It'll be interesting to see how many empty seats there are this year.

So, yeah. How did my race weekend go? I watched the first 40 laps, then spent the rest of the race in my friends truck. I just had to get sick then. Missed work Monday and Today...I don't care about missing work, I just wish it would've held off until after the damn race. haha.

Sorry the race turned out to be such a bummer for you due to being sick.

Suspend Carl Edwards.

Exactly! It was absolutely malicious and intentional and he should be suspended immediately for multiple weeks even not longer. Did you see a few laps earlier where he tried to take out Brad Keselowski? These are the exact reasons why I dislike Carl so much.

Wow! I see that Carl got off easy with only a three race probation for his malicious actions.  Undecided

So that means he can pull another stunt like that four races from now and probably get another slap on the wrist?

The rain has cleared and sunshine will be abundant, and both Cup and Grand National races will take place today at Talladega.
