008  GUNS N' ROSES ARRIVE

OCTOBER 1987:  Immortalized in the opening shot of the "Welcome to the Jungle" video, soundtracked by that riff and that lupine howl, W. Axl Rose's re-creation of his fabled 1982 arrival in Hollywood from Indiana was a most rude introduction.  One year, five million copies of Appetite for Destruction, and countless defiled women and whiskey bottles later, the band personified that archetypal image's best-case scenario.  Then Axl got mad at us.
