3. Gary Clark Jr. -"Blak & Blu"
6. Jack White -"Blunderbuss"
8. Andrew Bird -"Break It Yourself"

I second these choices.  I'd add these too:

Father John Misty - Fear Fun
John Frusciante - PBX
St. Vincent and David Byrne - Love This Giant
Shearwater - Animal Joy
of Montreal - Paralytic Stalks

These are the new albums I've purchased in 2012, and favourite to least favourite are...

Van Halen - A Different Kind of Truth
A great return, and leaps and bounds better than what should be expected from them so late into their career (Aerosmith should take note, after releasing their piece of shit).
Metallica - Beyond Magnetic
After the LULU disaster, this EP could also be seen as a return to form. Hard to believe these tracks didn't make it onto Death Magnetic, over the weaker DM tracks.
Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators - Apocalyptic Love
A solid effort from Slash & Myles, with some of the best guitar playing we've heard from Slash since GN'R (Anastasia is amazing!)
Stone Sour - House Of Gold & Bones Part 1
A late entry in 2012, and I don't own any prior Stone Sour albums to compare, but the opening two tracks are two of the best modern rockers I've heard in a long time. The rest is really strong too.
Soundgarden - King Animal
Solid return, that takes several listens to fully appreciate. And when the songs grow on you, they don't let go.
Halestorm - The Strange Case Of...
Great follow up second album, they're destined for big things I think...
Bruce Springsteen - Wrecking Ball
Another strong release from Bruce, the guy can do no wrong.

2013 Update!
I think you have to let a album sink in for a while before you can truly rate them.

13 Was a really good year for new music, much better than 14 i think.

3. David Bowie - The Next Day

4 Moby - Innocents

5. Bad Religion - True North

6. Palma Violets

7. How to Destroy Angels - welcome oblivion

8 Secular Plague - Death For Sale
(great punk band, i joined the band last October as a drummer!)

9. KatzKab - Object No1 (recommendend to google)

10. Phil Anselmo And the Illegals - Walk Throught Exit Only

11. Paul McCartney - New

12. Hamfer? - Evst
(recommended aswell)

13 Airbourne - Black Dog Barking

14. Mark Lanegan - Imitations

15. Depeche Mode - Delta Machine

16 Mot?rhead - Aftershock

17 The Dead Daisies

18. Ghost - Infestissumam

2014 was a pretty good year for music.  My top 5 that I listened to the most were

1. frnkiero andthe Cellabration "Stomachaches."  I literally listen to this album every day

2. Gerard Way "Hesitant Alien"

3. Chiodos "Devil"

4. Sixx AM "Modern Vintage

5.Smashing Pumpkins "Monuments to an Elegy"

Also some great reissues/greatest hits that also contained new tracks:

Avenged Sevenfold "Waking The Fallen Resurrected"

My Chemical Romance "May Death Never Stop You"

Oasis "Whats The Story Morning Glory"

On the flip side, very disappointed in the latest from Sebastian Bach, Slash, and ESPECIALLY the Foo Fighters.  Why record 8 songs in 8 different cities if you are going to bring in the same equipment and same producer into each studio?  What was the fucking point of that? They should have used different producers at each studio to really catch the vibe of that city.  They played it way too safe and, as a result all they managed to put out was just another bland Foo Fighter record, which is disappointing because I really liked the last one they did.

I had no hope for the Slash record or Sebastian Bach, but still, act like you give a shit guys!

Joseph Huber - The Hanging Road
Sean Wheeler & Zander Schloss - Other Desert Cities
JD McPherson - The Warm Covers EP
Boardwalk Empire - Volume 3
Slash - World on Fire
Wolfmother - New Crown
James Williamson - Re-Licked
Wallace Vanborn - The Orb We Absorb
Jake Bugg - Messed Up Kids EP
Sun Trash - Sun Trash

Picked up Lagwagon - Hang, for sake of nostalgia, Mark Lanegan - Phantom Radio & No Bells on Sunday EP, as well as Shakey Graves - And The War Came, but haven?t really delved into them yet.
