Well for Live Like A Suicide it is quite difficult. My advice is to try to buy from a trusted seller. Very hard to tell a genuine from a fake. A guide was posted in this thread:

I have seen sealed ones of those. You'll know because the price will be way low and there is usually a color dot sticker on it indicating the color of the vinyl inside.
As for Appetite, the cross cover and the rape cover were both original pressings. An original US cross cover pressing will look like this:
