Cool thread and great to reminisce about the old days. I never posted frequently but I was an avid reader. Thanks to Mysteron's pre-sale link back in the day my first gig seeing GNR worked out being front row at the Hammersmith.
Now I can't believe I'll celebrate 20 years on the board shortly after the Australian tour this year. Something I only would've dreamed about in the 00's!

Yeah I can't quite believe how much time has passed since then. Sincerely thank you for doing that, I'll never forget that day/night/early hours of the morning when the gig ended past curfew!  hihi

Absolutely. Really cool part of the community. I also remember that you organised a pre-show party before the gig. Funnily enough I went to the wrong pub (no smartphone in 2006) and missed it, but a friend I made at a different pub helped me get a spot front row and dead centre. A real sliding doors moment. Shame I never got to meet the HTGTH crew though!

Its nice that all these years later we can discuss Slash and Duff again in the same sentence as Guns n Roses without some people losing their shit altogether.

Yep, I've been around here long enough to remember the days of segregation around here...

Yes.

I think it started a little after I started this site.

The organization was basically picking a pub/bar close to the venue and letting everyone know about it....

Hi there everybody  beer

Been here since June 2005 as a member of this board... But i was under a different username since from the start (fotisz used to be my username).

Had the GnR Greek Fan Club via regular mail (attention! not e-mail, but regular post office mail rofl ) from 1992(!) to almost 2000... What an era!

I remember back in the 90s, the "We ain't Dead Yet" site, the "gnrontour" by JohnM and a lot of geocities sites that had bootlegs for trading. i think that till 1996 i had something like 100+ live concerts of GnR in Cds or Cassettes(!) - oh God i think i m the older here.  hihi hihi

I was a kid and now i m 47y old, so i grew up with GnR - met them in 1993 at Athens gig, i think i met Jarmo in 2010 in Belgrad.

Cheers everybody and hope the best is yet to come....

I feel like we should retitle this The GnR Oldtimers Club. Wink

I'm still kicking around.  I post less, but still browse and read a lot.

Since I joined:

3 kids (the eldest of which is about to graduate from college), a house, 2 more degrees, lots and lots of new music listened to, and a set of very achy knees.  Turning 48 in June.

Same wife, same company (though not the same job...moved on up!).

But riddle me this:

What happened to [redacted].com and it's owner, [redacted] (who, if memory serves, liked Red Stripe?)?  Or the infamous [redacted] who I hung out with at the Hammerstein shows? Finally, where did [redacted] go with his clairvoyant fax machine??!!

Wink

Ha. I agree. When I lurked here in 1996, I was 20. I became a member when I was 27.  I'm now 46. Time flies. I'm still with the same employer as well. Maybe the only difference is that I'm currently a part time graduate student while working full time. I'm totally looking forward to graduating with the MBA degree in the fall. It's just too much work.

This thread got me to check my profile. Will be 20 years on here as of this fall. I signed up specifically because of the 2002 tour, since I had tickets.

I had tickets to the 2002 tour as well, but apparently I was only a lurker back then (apparently I didn't sign up until late 2004?). I was supposed to see them in Tampa, which was a week after the Philadelphia (no) show which quickly put an end to that tour.

I finally got to see them at Hammerstein in NY and wound up going all 4 nights. That was a fun experience, especially with not knowing who the new guitarist in the band was going to be prior to the shows.

OK I'm still here but since nobody knows me and I really don't know anyone IRL I suppose it doesn't count  hihi

anyway I was on some usenet alt.gnr group(s) lurking around for infos &  on Jeff Boerio's mailing list, probably in 1997 since it's the year I had Internet at home. I remember I posted some artworks and he showed them to some GNR member who said to him they were great and I was like "wow, Internet is great".  hihi

then the same year I found HTGTH, probably via Usenet or this mailing list, and finaly became an active member in 2003.

since then I post random things that no one reads and change my mind a lot more than I'd like to.  hihi

I first registred June 03, 2005 - I can't recall if I had a user profile before then, but I guess I've been in an out of different GnR fanforums because of some technical difficulties with the profile login since the late 90's. This and MyGnR forum is my main source for live updates (as well as twitter and instagram), if there are no other way to get them. So I look forward to fill some shows on my danish fansite/group again.

I really appreciate those hard working fans on finding info and pics and videos from all the shows over the years. Sharing is caring, and all that jazz...I mean HARD ROCK!  hihi
