I heard trough a good source(Universal) the greatest hits album is scheduled for March.
Sad news is also that Universal is putting out the record without approval of
the band.
Universal have also given up the CD record. This could really mean the end for the band.
This is 100% , please don?t kill the messanger.

Nah, I don't believe it.  no

although mtv do have that info...(care of gnr_flyers on newgnr.com)

http://www.mtv.com/bands/az/guns_n_roses/359014/album.jhtml

mtv have not released any 'news' of the release, so i'm not yet convinced it's definate.

I can't say I'll be shocked, because this is exactly what I've been expecting.

Yeah i saw that link on mtv a couple of days ago and i was confused, probably just a mistake though....A greatest hits would be so stupid, especially if they stick with the tracklisting of the earlier one.

Why is it that one post wonders are shot down in flames when they bring good news, but taken seriously when it's bad news?   Us GnR fans are too negative.

geffen, interscope, A&M plus many more are under Universal.  Eventhough recently geffen are headfing back out on there own they will still be ditributed by universal.

A true fan - no, not that 'truefan' (where is he?)

« Reply #15 on: January 24, 2004, 08:52:41 AM »

Someone's gonna kill me for posting this, so I'll keep it as intentionally vague as possible while still doing me best to quell any fears.

Trust me when I tell you this: There will be no Greatest Hits release in March, regardless of what Universal claims to have 'scheduled' - there is a BIG difference between scheduling and actually doing something.  In a few weeks, hopefully, this will make alot more sense.

As for the rest of what he said - unless something's changed in the last week or so, Universal hasn't 'given up' on CD anymore than I've 'given up' on obsessing over Jennifer Tilly.  So, in the words of the immortal Douglas Adams, "Don't Panic!"

Oh no you dont. If this is Johan from 2TI, he's a long time poster. Just because he doesnt post here doesnt mean he's full of shit. He also had this own GNR website based in Sweden or Denmark. I think it was Sweden. But, it might be a different Johan.

Now, I know GNR are signed to Interscope/Geffen, but when I go to a record store, any GNR album got a Universal sticker on it, even Live Era. When I bought new copies of my CD's 4-5 years ago, that sticker wasnt there. I dont know the connection, but my guess is that Interscope/Geffen are the level below a huge firm as Universal.

We will see Jimmy Hoffa before we see a GH album, but that doesnt mean he's a lying bitch. He's just posting what someone told him.

Back when Illusion came out, they set it up as a GH release then as well only to change it later. As apart of a smart little promotion trick or whatever.

Wow!!! nervous confused Huh

I can't believe how many people just got away with calling this dude names, insulting him and telling him to fuck off.

WTF??? no

I guess I was right about some people getting preferential 'Fuck-Off' rights and the rest of us having to sit back and suck on it. rant [puke]

To get back on topic, if it's true then who gives a shit? rant

Doesn't mean it's the end of GNR either. rant

I personally don't think it's gonna happen and it wouldn't surprise me if it's just another ploy by Axl and company to throw people off the real scent.

The real scent being the new album coming out this year man.  yes ok beer drool peace
