GNR/Weiland Band Goes To The Movies
Rumors continue to swirl about the status of the new band featuring three ex-members of Guns N' Roses. Published reports claim Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland has signed a contract to front the group, which features guitarist Slash, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Matt Sorum, as well as Wasted Youth guitarist David Kushner. Slash's manager did not return calls seeking comment.

And while the project, said to be named Reloaded, remains shrouded in mystery, a few details have come to light. First, the combo's cover of Pink Floyd's "Money" will appear in the film "The Italian Job," which arrives May 30 in U.S. theaters. A spokesperson tells Billboard.com the musicians are going by their individual names and not an overall band moniker for this project. It is not known if a commercial soundtrack will be released.

An original song, "Set Me Free," will appear in the upcoming film adaptation of "The Hulk," which debuts June 20 in U.S. theaters. Here, the cut will appear only in the film and not on the Decca/UMG soundtrack, which is comprised solely of Danny Elfman's score. The album is due June 17.

The new band, which was operating under the working name "the Project," was accepting demos from prospective vocalists as recently as last month. Besides Weiland, various singers have been bantered about as frontman options, including Buckcherry's Joshua Todd, Tomahawk's Mike Patton, and Skid Row's Sebastian Bach.
