There's some GN'R mentions in the latest issue of Classic Rock magazine. There's an article about Scott Weiland facing jail on drug possession. The final paragraph comments on strong rumours that GN'R have been dropped from their record label Geffen and have no plans to release the ever delayed Chinese Democracy album.

Looks like Classic Rock gets their news online. The rumor about GN'R being dropped appered in May.

Velvet Revolver's "Set Me Free" is the lead track from the soundtrack to the motion picture the Hulk, and the band is currently exploring its options for a record deal. The supergroup includes singer Scott Weiland with former Guns N' Roses members Matt Sorum on drums, Slash on guitar, and Duff McKagan on bass.

Stone Temple Pilots singer Weiland is considered a product of the early '90s grunge scene, while Guns N' Roses emerged from the late '80s hair-metal scene. So how did the two parties come together? Weiland said that it was through friendship.

"Actually, Duff contacted me," says Weiland. "We had started to develop a personal relationship because our wives knew each other so we were friends. We were developing a friendship and it sort of developed out of that. I talked to he and Slash on the phone, and that's sort of how it started."

Weiland added that he was shocked to be in a band with such a legendary group of players. "I was very surprised," says Weiland. "It's just at the time I was unsure that I was able to do it because of my commitments to my... to STP. And so I couldn't pass up the opportunity after a while."

Weiland already contributed vocals to Velvet Revolver's cover version of Pink Floyd's classic song "Money," which appears on the soundtrack to the film the Italian Job.

Velvet Revolver also features guitarist Dave Kushner, who played with both Suicidal Tendencies and Infectious Grooves.

Stone Temple Pilots will release a still untitled Greatest Hits album, which will contain a brand new song from the band.
