CAMP FREDDY Begin Recording Debut Album + GN'R unofficial biography update + more
CAMP FREDDY, the Los Angeles-based "jam" band consisting of JANE'S ADDICTION guitarist Dave Navarro, former THE CULT touring bassist Billy Morrison (on guitar), ex-GUNS N' ROSES/THE CULT drummer Matt Sorum, bassist Scott Ford, and vocalist Donovan Leitch (the son of 1960s U.K. folk-rock icon Donovan), entered a Los Angeles studio last week to begin recording their all-star "covers" album for Sanctuary Records. Tracking began on a number of songs, and although the track listing and guest appearances will be kept under wraps, the album is being made in the same spirit as the shows — amazing rock songs performed by a diverse and exciting list of artists.

Says Morrison: "We decided to make a record a while back, but with Mike Clink (GUNS N' ROSES, METALLICA) behind the wheel, we are now set to actually do it. The whole point is to have fun and play great music, and that's what we are doing." The as-yet-untitled album is expected to be released this spring.

In other news, CAMP FREDDY will be performing at the Circus Maximus Superbowl party in Houston, Texas on January 30. As usual, the band promises a star-studded line up, amazing songs and a few surprises.

A bunch of pictures of CAMP FREDDY's January 19 performance at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah have been posted online at this location. The band performed with Jerry Cantrell from ALICE IN CHAINS, Billy Duffy from THE CULT, Steve Stevens (VINCE NEIL, BILLY IDOL), Richard Patrick from FILTER and Mark McGrath from SUGAR RAY. Songs performed included the ALICE IN CHAINS classic "Man In The Box" and LED ZEPPELIN's "Whole Lotta Love".

The release of the unofficial GN'R biography, The Band That Time Forgot: The Complete Unauthorised Biography of Guns N' Roses, has been delayed. According to Barnes & Noble, it will be out on May 1st and according to Borders, April 7th.

Velvet Revolver's "Set Me Free" was at #45 on WBCN's Top 104 songs of 2003. Audioslave's "Like A Stone" was #1.

The following was posted at the Velvet Rope forum in a thread called ran into tommy stinson over the weekend...:

- 80 percent of "democracy" is fucking great.
