Where? a source?... thought that The General was mentioned by M. Beltrami on 2002 to add some orchestal arragements... n' Brain was in Gn'r since 2001... I doubt if he wrote that song,,, considering the long, looooong times in Gn'R universe...

It was more directly mentioned by Brain himself but I don't remember where that one was.

The General is a song at least partially written by Brain, it's been mentioned in several interviews

I think people still fail to realize what a massive project this is, it's not just CD, not just one album, it's 3-4.  I would imagine the negotiations have something to do with releasing all albums in this set within the next 4-5 years.  If I'm not mistaken, GnR only has one album left on their current contract but they have 3-4 albums worth of material bankrolled by Geffen/Universal so that's probably what the negotiations have to do with

I wouldn't say 3/4. If they owe them one album, they owe them one album unless otherwise designated. It doesn't matter how much material they produce in a given time. And my impression was that Geffen/Universal haven't funded the entire project all of the time.

But yes, I'm sure that the project is gigantic. I can't imagine all of the people involved. I look forward to some really epic music videos though. Smiley

Sorry, but Guns N' Roses doesn't do "concept" albums. If he's like George Lucas and knowing Axl's desire for perfection they'll be fully realized and epic.

That confirms what I believed.... There will be Stormtroopers on Chinese Democracy!

I love baz,
he is teasing the fans, but at the same time, He is makign the fans more hungry ....

This must of been Axls vision all along, to do a trilogy, and Each album progresses on to something else to tell a story over a period of 3 albums,

That MUST be why, (from reading the richard interview) when richard was asked if he had written any songs on chinese democracy,

he replied with "I only play on the songs on the first album, because they were already written when he joined the band, but he has a few songs on the following album/s"

so This is awsome, Axl has had a strategy all along , that each song has a special place on the chinese democracy timeline..

Nothing like this has ever been done before, and That must be why the record company doesnt want to screw up the cd release, which is understandable,
they only have one chance to really give this cd the firepower needed to skyrocket this bitch into peoples hands

Theres a twist around ever corner and I fuckin love it  peace peace peace

I don't agree with this masterplan-theory, but that's just beacause I'm a pessimistic naysayer.

So I hope you prove me wrong.  Grin

so axl plans to release the 3 albums in 4 years?  drool

here is a bit of speculation by me......if there is a trilogy happening maybe universal is looking for previews of that material? or wanting all disks ready and in their hands before fronting any more cash? regardless, based on that old CD breakdown by pilferk they will each need to sell about 2.5 million units for the label to break even...if there is a trilogy

Im pretty sure Chinese Itselfs will sell over 5mill. Hard to say about the following records.. I have bought a couple of versons of every Tool Record and GnR records, cos i know somehow, i will listen to them so much, its nice to have. The same i guess will happen with CD! Buy a at least 2 of it, the same day! One for listeningplasure, and the other as second two in the line in my cdrack!

For example, Pink Floyd The Wall is a concept album...  and while it does have lots of sounds, filters, and mixing techniques, it was not from a big jam session.  Concept album usually refers to the fact that the songs are all thematically linked together to tell a story or convey some sort of concept or thought.

I don't expect Chinese Democracy to be a concept album though, either.

donno but judging from descriptions like
"very complex record" -axl
with "interludes" - tommy
"an epic album but songs are not overly long''-tommy
"you'll like at least a few songs on there"-Axl
and yet
"as a whole, you will either love or hate it"-richard

I wouldn't be surprised if there's some concept/theme running through the 3 albums.

at least now I have a feeling about why negotiations with the label are taking so long... I'm sure that label wants the strongest material all to be lumped into the first release to capture as much money as they can up front. I can see Axl holding firm that there is a specific track listing across multiple albums that he doesn't want to deviate from and they keep pushing back...

All guessing on my part, but the way Baz described that I can only imagine this causes a big sticking point.

I can't speak for Axl but I'd imagine it'd be somewhere in the ballpark of another album being released 6/7/8 months after the first one similar to the way System of a Down released Mezmerize and Hypnotize, but then again Guns N' Roses is bigger band and the show is much higher production, so it may be a year or so. I just don't see him waiting 2 years between albums if they're finished.

Who knows. Just thinking aloud here.

This is from the July Classic Rock

So We've heard Axl sing on your CD, when are we going to hear him sing on his own?

Its coming dude. And i can say that because i have heard it. It Exists! I was at a Christmas party at his house last yearand he played me all of Chinese Democracy - Four Albums - worth of Material. The heaviest song is called The General. Its so demonic and Evil. Ive never heard Axl sing as high as he does on that - except for maybe on my record.

So whens it coming out?

He sgot a whole release schedule planned out. The song i love, The General, i said "when can i put this in my Ipod?" Axl goes, "2012". And im like "Huh", So he says, "Well, this song has to go with this song, and this song has to do with this, and this song is the end of the parable trilogy...." He's like George Lucas, Dude!

Sorry no links had to type this from Magazine

drool drool drool drool drool drool drool drool drool drool smoking

i know its been said a few times before but i love hearing it again evey now and then

i'm hoping that one of those albums to come is "the lost industrial album" that like no one knows about or will talk about.....if thats true i think htey ought to call it Use Your Illusions III drool
