The Panthers really surprised me tonight, however, they will need a miracle to beat New England.

I agree with the low ratings.  But I have to say I think it will be a good game, the 7 point spread is a little generous for New England.  But I don't think anyone really thought these 2 teams would be in the Super Bowl, outside of the New England area and the Carolinas.  I love the parody of the NFL.  I think the haltime show is lame and the commercials have been getting worse in the last few years.  I hope Carolina wins, but I am predicting a New England victory 20-14.  But who cares the Steelers aren't in it.  beer

Carolina surprised me too.

I haven't been following the Patriots very much this year, but I think Carolina has a decent shot.  They made it this far, they've got more in them than a lot of people gave them credit for earlier in the season, I think.

I think this Superbowl is not as exciting as most people would like it to be because people don't know these teams very well.  Most of the national broadcasted games are those that the teams have superstars on and well known players.  Since these teams are more team orientated ( not a lot of stand out players) they don't get the coverage they deserve.  Everybody thinks that New England is going to win but if you remember two years ago when they faced St. Louis, everyone was like who are these guys?  They don't stand a chance.  Well, I think we all saw what happened then didn't we?  So don't count out Carolina at all.  My pick however is New England, but I expect a vey close game, possible overtime.

i have to say im very uninterested in this game

lord 2 weeks of boring hype by the sports media is driving me bonkers

there isnt one interesting player in this whole game but "he hate me" and he isnt that interesting

i wish the game was this sunday to ge tthis shit over with

im gonna watch but i have low expectations, much like the horribly savagely brutal ny giants vs baltimore ravens superbowl a few years ago

this superbowl sucks!

I also think the ratings will be low. I like to see Carolina win.  ok You know what have been a great game and very hig ratings I bet if KC made it to the Superbowl and still won every game. It would have been cool to see them and the Rams.  beer That would have been one of the best Superbowls in the last few years.  ok Maybe next year my team can make it all the way.  Smiley

Carolina has heart but I don't think it will be near enough to beat New England.

The line opened up at 6 1/2, but it's at 7 points now.  I don't think I have to say who the favorite is.

The over/under is 37 1/2

why do teams become so unaggressive defensively at the end of games?

u have one of the best defenses in the league and new england just went down the field with ease

carolina blew a golden opportunity, they shouldve kicked the extrap oints instead of goin for 2

Well, the game was actually pretty good, once they started scoring some points.  The end was a lot more exciting than I expected, anyway.

The half-time show was such a joke.  Wasn't there supposed to be a surprise appearance by someone too?  Someone besides Janet Jackson's breast?

Broncos, Redskins discuss Portis-for-Bailey swap

The Denver Broncos are discussing a trade that would send running back Clinton Portis to Washington for cornerback Champ Bailey, a swap of two Pro Bowlers upset with their contracts, a source said Monday.

In giving up Portis for Bailey, Denver also would receive Washington's second-round selection in the April draft, the NFL source told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

Vinny Cerrato, Washington's player personnel director, said at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis: ``We are talking to a number of teams and Denver is one of the teams.'' He wouldn't name the players.

Jack Reale, Bailey's agent, said the Redskins have talked with several teams, including Detroit, the New York Jets, Houston, Chicago and Arizona.

``We have had preliminary discussions with the Broncos and with other teams as well, just on the broad outlines of a contract,'' Reale said. ``I can't go into detail until I know what team we're going to be dealing with.''

The negotiations with Portis were first reported in The Denver Post.

The Redskins have protected Bailey, who can become a free agent on March 3, by designating him their franchise player. That means the Redskins must make him a one-year, $6.8 million tender, the average of the top five players at his position.

Portis has two years remaining on the contract he signed as a second-round draft pick in 2002. Displeased with the $300,000 he made last season, he has hinted he might be a holdout when training camp starts unless the Broncos rework his deal.

The deal would make sense because the Redskins went last season without an every-down running back, a must in the offensive system favored by new coach Joe Gibbs. Portis ran for 1,591 yards last year despite missing three games with chest and ankle injuries.

Portis' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, declined comment and the Broncos did not return a call seeking comment.

AP Sports Writer Joseph White contributed to this story.

That would be a good trade for denver, they recieve an awesome corner and a second round pick.  I know that Portis is good but look who there running backs have been the past few years.  They can put anybody in that system and they will produce 1500+ 10+ TD's.  This will also be a good deal for washington too.  They will get a guy that will replace Davis, and its the type of back that they want.

its to risky, yeah theyve been successful having 4 1,000 yard backs in terrell davis, mike anderson, olandis gary and now portis, corners do have longer productive careers, it just depends on if they can get a back, that formula and the offensive line system has worked but its still a gamble in my opinion

Back when i became a Patriots fan in the early 90s people gave me shit cuz they sucked so bad, they were the joke if the NFL. Now more than 10 years later everyone hates on em cuz they are so fucking good.  rofl  Its great! Now with Ty Law staying and Corey Dillon on the team they have to be the AFC Preseason favorites. They lost a few lineman but they should be fine, they have the best coach, the best Postseason QB, and the best clutch kicker in the NFL. Preseason favorites have to be the Patriots and Eagles for Super Bowl XXIX. Most people are prob gonna pick against the Pats though, they always do. Most of the so called "experts" picked them to lose to Indy in the AFC Champ. many picked them to lose to the Titans. So keep picking against em  smoking

Old man Emmitt isn't ready for the rockin' chair yet.

Emmitt Smith earned another NFL record with his 77th 100-yard rushing game -- and threw the first pass of his 15-year pro career. It went for a touchdown, no less, in Arizona's stunning 34-10 beating of the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

The NFL's career rushing leader had his best game since leaving Dallas two years ago, gaining 127 yards on 21 carries to help give Dennis Green his first victory as Cardinals coach.

Smith, six months past his 35th birthday, tied Walter Payton's record for most 100-yard games in an NFL career.

``It means more to win right now than anything,'' said Smith, who has seen the Cardinals go 5-15 since he signed with them as a free agent before the 2003 season.

It was his first 100-yard game since Thanksgiving 2002, when he did it for Dallas against Washington.

Happy to see him have another big game since it's been awhile since his last one. Also to see him tie a record that I'm sure he will get befor it's all done.
