Me: "Ever heard of Axl Rose?"

Guy: "Sweet Child Of Mine?"

Me "Yes"

The music is legendary, not necessarily the man. But then not everyone has seen him live.

I think the name "Axl Rose" sounds legendary for who don't know him... it's like some philosophs from Greece, peopleknows, they are legends, but a few people read greeks philosophs...

Philosophers. Tongue

People at my school love Guns N Roses, at the talent show thing some usually does a GNR song.

Northern Ireland with GNR!!  hihi

He wasn't around long enough to become a legend.  He had all the makings of it though.

What happened to your "We dont wanna share GNR with TRL'ers" fact/fiction?  Did it get lost in all the rumor threads?  Grin

Anyway, I say Axl is a legend  (edit: your not a legend bit confused me  Grin)

People love to love him, people love to hate him.  He is unique.  He can be the best at what he does, he can also be the fuckin worst!  rant

Oh - and at least he didnt become a legend by killling himself...

Hopefully he shows us that even though he lost the battle, he can win the war.

I don't know what teenagers you've been hanging around, but if you ask who Mick Jagger is, most wouldn't know. It isn't fair to compare Axl vs. the Stones. It has to be either Mick vs. Axl or the Stones vs. GN'R.

As for as I'm concerned, this thread is pointless. Axl is undeniably a rock legend. If you ask some pimple ass MTV watching teen who Bob Dylan is, chances are they won't know that either. Kurt Cobain wasn't around for too long and he's a legend. The Sex Pistols are legends based solely on Never Mind the Bollocks. So Guns are easily legends just based on AFD.

Hmmmmm, I dont think so: one can argue that Axl has ruined his once-legendary status by all the dumbass shit he's done.

However - Spin magazine once said of him: What the world needs now is Axl Rose     yes

Only legends can achieve that kind of status.

Does Phil Specter going all whacko and trigger happy last year take away from his past work? No, and there's nothign Axl can do to take away from his work on AFD or from November Rain and Estranged.

Spin magazine sucks, I don't care what they say. They probably got paid by univeral to do that issue, cuz they were origianlly planing to realease CD in 02.

 ok

Axl Rose is a legend, but so is the rest of the original GN'R.I think anyone who hears a GN'R song on the radio(classic rock radio)knows who is singing.

Fiction

He's the greatest rock singer that has ever been on this planet. he's just totally something that there has never been and never probably will. His stage perform, his voice, his untamed personality..his just something that can't be describe just like that. you got to see him and listen to his voice, then you're able to understand the phenomenon called Axl Rose (particularly back in the old days)

he's not "tv-friendly" enough.
once he'll know what "communication" means, he'll be alegend.
he doesn't how to sell his image. sad, but to be a legend, u have to be w tv/media-whore like the beattles or the stones.
marilyn manson is more a "legend" than him, as more people knows who M.Manson is.

Axl is a legend. Everyone over 15 knows who he is. Everyone can name a GNR song. Simple.

He is rockstar that's for sure. But he is not in the same category with Jimmy Hendrix, Jim Morrison. That's because he just disappeared when he was on top and keep silent for more 10 years.

Fact, Axl Rose isn't a legend.

Name recognition doesn't make someone a legend. Big deal, a fifteen year old can name Axl Rose and 5 of his songs. The same fifteen yearold can tell you who Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer are, does that make them legendary? If it does, is that the group of legends you want Axl Rose with?

If he were to die in the prime of his career, for example, if he died durring the Use Your Illusion Tour, than yes he would have gotten instant legend status. Or if they had a sustained 15-20 year career with multiple albums and multiple supporting tours, than he might be considered a legend. But the fact that he had for all intents and purposes a five year career 88'-93' kills his legend status.

We are a very small group of people who expect anything out of this new album. I'd even go so far as to say that 50% of the people you ask about Chinese Democracy wouldn't even realize that he is working on an album. If you took the combined population of all of these GnR message boards we wouldn't have enough people to fill a small college basketball arena. Kurt Loder and ourselves are the only people who care about him anymore. No One Cares.................Legend to who??

Axl is a legend and the world will realise it when CD is released. I think he has lost some of his status due to the fact that he hasn't done anything for the last ten years to really warrant it but in my eyes he will always be a legend.
