I guess I'll never stop listening to old GN'R. I always listen when I'm driving a car or playing CM.

Bhudda_Master, I feel for you (I mean that sincerely).? I know you're really into Buckethead.

Just give it a break for some time, and come back to GNR music later.? It will greet you like an old friend.? Their music is timeless.?

I know what you mean about the memories (good & bad) that are tied to the songs, but that cant be helped.? 'Just take it for what is'.

You are right bro. In time if nothing new is ever released, I will view GNR much like I do some of the classic bands of the 60s and 70s that I am a fan of. And then, I will take it for what it is. Right now, there is no closure to Guns, which only prolongs these feelings that I have.

No chance

If anything i am more into GNR than i have ever been.

Every month i find a new fav GNR song, or begin to like a song i hadn't previously.

Been there done that. I could recite word for word each song from GNR from Appetite, through the UYI. I feel that if you are still in the mode of discovering a "new Fav GNR song" than you cannot possibly understand where I am coming from. Nor can any fan who has just recently discovered GNR, like the friend above who became a fan only 3 years ago. I am a fan from back in the day. I have been a fan through all the ups and downs since (like I said) 1988.

All of there songs are like old stories that I have read hundreds of times before. Like Beatles music, there is nothing left for me to discover in these songs anymore. I am a fan for a reason. But I am a fan who is in a strange place with that in which I am a fan of.

I have closer connection with the classic bands from the 60s and 70s because I know how the story ended. Even bands like Rage against the machine, I can appreciate for what it was. GNR is neither here nor there. And without closure, my personal connection to GNR is in a state of limbo. A band I like is a band I have a connection to. There music connects with me on a personal level. I am so disappointed with GNR that to listen to them, is a reminder of where GNR is right now. I know GNR better than I know about a lot of things. Seperating the music from the artists is impossible.

And the artists have turned me off from the art.

I feel that only a new release, being Chinese Democracy, or whatever it may be called, or just an official statement from Rose saying that it is over, is the only way I will ever be turned onto GNR again.

I do tend to get bummed knowing that the band I fell in love with will never release an album again, but it hasn't affected me to the point where I can't listen to their music anymore. I'll go through my periods where I won't listen to them because I focus on my other favorite bands, but I always find my way back to Guns N Roses. They seem to have a song for every single one of my moods, so it isn't long before I start playing them to fit whatever mood I am in at the time.

I would generally agree with this. There is a GNR song for every one of my moods. Or I should say there was. I dont believe there is a song in their catalog that captures the feeling I have now towards them. Maybe 14 years would be it if there was one. Axls voice now is only a reminder of the current state for a band and singer that I have felt so connected to, on a personal level, for so many years of my life.

Just yesterday, I thought its been awhile since I have heard the newer shit like CD, Blues, and Mad. But no...I couldnt get into it. I think im going to take all my GNR cd's out of my cd case, and put them back into their cases at home in the cd rack, with all the other disks I dont listen to.

I long for the day that I rediscover my old friend. Maybe when he resurfaces for real, with some new shit to reignite the fire. I still can't stop coming here to these boards, because I still have hope that one day, I will see a news piece worth knowing.

I do miss Guns N' Roses, and this whole time they are right the fuck in front of me.

I wouldn't say GN'R is dead just yet.  This stuff simply can not stay buried even if Bucket is gone.  Anyway I'll always listen to GN'R and the bootlegs.  Songs like Madagascar inspire me to wait for this prolonged project to surface.

I so appreciate this. I know where you are coming from. Madagascar filled me with a lot of hope, and entertained the piss out of me. This hope that I had started in what 2001, since we first heard it? It made me believe in GNR again. It made me believe in this new GNR (which brother, is no small feet).

But instead of setting the stage, and to hint at whats to come...for 3 years now it is all we have. And what we have is no longer the band as we hear it in that very same song. And damn, how can you not listen to that song, and not be reminded of what the state of GNR is today. Its like finding coke, only to realize that its baking soda.

The newer music is great but its a sad reminder of a disappointment. And damnit I still have to do a days worth of being a slave because CD will not see the light of day this summer. That was a stupid fucking bet I made because I had faith this time. I always had faith. But damn...another summer without CD...as a fan how does that not bother any of you. It does for me.

I know I know... take the high road "I don't expect CD to ever come out so I really don't give a fuck." If you want new music, you are a bleeding hypocrite for saying anything resembling that. Sorry, you are a fucking phony. Ah whats the point.

I am just bumming because I, for the first time since radio stations started playing Welcome To The Jungle, I just Don't feel like listening to Guns N' Roses anymore. And I haven't for awhile. And I won't for awhile. The problem is, is that I still care. It would be easier if I didnt anymore. This is my old friend who got me through so much. What is going on with you dude?

I'm sorry GNR no longer does it for u

I dug out my 'welcome to the videos' video earlier.......for me GNR is as fresh and new now as they were when i started listening to them over a decade ago.

Songs like Sweet Child O'mine i listen to 3-4 times a week...and every time its like the first time, no matter what i'm doing i just stop..and listen, and am completely blown away by it.

I don't just love GNR, i'm amazed by them, and i suppose i'm very lucky that feeling hasn't declined.

I can safely say i am even more of a GNR fan today than i have ever been and if it takes 50 more years for a new GNR album, well......i'll still be waiting patiently.

This is really strange for me. I haven't gone this long without listening to Guns N' Roses. When there was all the excitement a couple years back, I couldn't stop listening to my bootleg discs from the shows. I couldn't stop playing Appetite and the Illusions, and Lies.

Even before that, over the years, I would go through periods when I didnt listen, but instead listened to newer music, classic rock, or another genre altogether. But I always came back to Guns. But ever since the aborted 2002 tour, my GNR CD's got less and less play. And more recently, with the departure of Buckethead, I have completely stopped listening altogether. I can't seem to get into it anymore. Its like listening to the music reminds me how sad things have become, instead of just enjoying the music. To put it more simply, GNR music bums me out.

I'm having trouble getting back into Guns N' Roses. I don't even think I will, until something really new and special comes to pass. And if its over, maybe in the future when my daughter is older, I would introduce GNR to her. She's going to learn a lot about music, and the different bands and styles, and certaintly talking about history, GNR had there time.

But as a fan since '88, this bums me out to no end.

Stop bitching about it. :rant:I really don't give a fuck about Bucket Head.I know if GN'R come out with the new album I will buy it,most of us will no matter if we are 'into' them or not. smoking

Dude Buddah
Dude i feel with you... I was looking forward for May 30th too... and the new band... I have not given up on the new band either but i have put thier bootlegs away and stopped listening to them..

I have tried to stay "into" GnR the last few weeks by watching some old shows... the Chicago show where they play COMA live is great..

The old 93 shows with the "unplugged" style acoustic sets are great..those get me back into GnR but fill me with sadness that we can never see that again.. I miss Slash and Duff and Izzy and Gilby and even Matt...

Watch Chicago 92 when they all come out in black leather jackets... man they look soooo fucking bad ass and cool... they play a great set that nite..

I will admit that I have been guilty of "Axl blindness" maybe its coz i dont want to belive its really over, I still hope the new band will do well and ill support them by going to the shows and buying all the merch i can afford but now its setting in on me that no band will compare to the band in the Chicago 92 show that played Coma..

The way they used the silly little intros to "further" explain the songs they were going to play.. almost like a new verse to the song..

Bad Time/Sweet child
Rant/Double Talking Jive
Only women bleed/knocking

I miss those mother fuckers... dude Buddah ive been a fan since 87/88 just like you... If i could ever meet you in person im sure we would have alot in common... I have 5 tattoos of this band and every day still proudly will say its "Fucking Guns n Roses" when im asked about them even when its not the "cool" band anymore or whatever...

when the times are tough i just try to find a new view of the band to appreciate,.. ill try to get into unreleased stuff,... or solo stuff, or acoustic stuff, live stuff, influenced stuff... demo stuff...

my wife will always tell me "its just a band" your "obsessed with somthing thats gone"  but not to me.. to me its always a way to feel better when im having a shitty day or a way to kick the good times im having into high gear...

What could be better than to hear "Move to the city" live with the fucking horns in background?? maybe "Move to the city" without the horns!!! you get my point...

I guess ive wrote enough but yeah i get what you feel dude... ive felt it many times and im sure u have as well .. Ill just listen to old boots now... no more new GnR for me for awhile..

one poster put it well on one of the pages .. "Axl told me to get on with my life" and i have or something like that....

hahah well i guess i have.......NOT!!!!!!

This has nothing to do with Buckethead. So do not misinterpret my feelings. He was just a piece of the overall shroud that has affected my love of GNR.

I didnt suddenly hate GNR music. To take what I said and twist it into that is moronic. GNR music means a lot to me, on a very personal level. But after getting hit with nothing but bullshit for so long, it has fucked up my enjoyment of listening to them.

Of course if Chinese D does come out, these points will be mute. But until then, I have trouble seperating the music from the band. And the band is being a real drag. And for all the love I have for GNR, feeling this way is real a bummer.

On the flip side, Im glad some of you couldnt give a fuck about Guns N' Roses today. To some of you, the band and the music the band has made, is apples and oranges.

So good for you! I wish that I didnt care about Axl and the rest of the boyz, and I could just enjoy the music. But nope. They to me are one in the same.

Its like this. Say I found out that John Lennon had raped and violated a girl. I, as much as I love Lennon's music, I would never be able to hear his music without constantly thinking what a motherfucker he was. His music would become almost unlistenable for me. Thank god that never happened to my knowledge. This with GNR is of course not that drastic, but it is an example of how the music which I love can be affected by the actions of the artist (s)  that created it.

I think thats what is happening to me know with GNR. My life thrives on balance. I need a flow. And for too long GNR has been unbalanced with a relentless amount of negativity.

And Kockstar, some drinks and some good smokes would be awesome. Maybe we could even bring the wives. How fucking funny would that be?

Old Guns N' Roses, the stuff most of us grew up with, will always rock my world.  To me, there really is not a Guns N' Roses without Slash, anyway.  He, Izzy, and Duff were the heart and soul of the band.  The new-ish songs, like "The Blues" and "Madagascar," are really good listens, but it's just not GNR without The Master.  Besides, new Velvet Revolver is coming out soon, and if "Set Me Free" was any indication, it will sound more like the real GNR - even with that shithead Weiland singing - than anything Axl could come up with these days.   On some levels, I just wish Axl would give up the "illusion" that he is actually going to release this stupid record and just go away for good.  Here's a 40-something year-old man who never realized that you can't just replace special people like Slash, Duff, Izzy, et al, especially with a Yngwie Malmsteen-wannabe who wears a KFC-bucket on his head, or some 45 year-old punk rock has-been who wears plaid suits.  Could any of you imagine anyone in GNR back in the day wearing a plaid suit?  Come on!  The classic GNR featured two of the most bad-ass drummers of all-time in Steven Adler and Matt Sorum, and now we got some schmuck who calls himself "Brain."  How cute.  Yeah, these are talented musicians he is working with, but does that really mean anything?  As old-school GNR fans, shouldn't we be loyal to the men who gave us this wonderful gift?  The least Axl could have done was come up with a different name for this different group, because this isn't Guns N' Roses.  As brilliant as the man is, W. Axl Rose is a first-class asshole, shitting on not only his fans, but also the men who made him what he was.  Guns N' Roses would never have sold a lick if it were not for Slash's God-like riffs, and I think deep down inside Mr. Rose knows that.  I think he's scared to death of Velvet Revolver, knowing it's going to kick the living shit out of whatever Nine Inch Nails-wannabe crud he has been working on for the past eight years now.  My advice to all the real GNR fans out there is to forget about this abortion called "Chinese Democracy" and focus on the Velvet Revolver.  Slash, Duff, and Matt are far more deserving of out time and attention than that idiot Axl is.  Hey, he shit on us a long time ago, and then proceeded to do it again and again.  Slash has never mistreated his fans.  He's been around, playing with everyone from Carole King to Michael Jackson (yeah, I don't understand that one, either, but oh well).  This is my first post here, and I'm sorely disappointed in the lack of attention VR has been getting from you people.  Yes, Weiland is a HORRIBLE choice for lead singer - Sebastian Bach would have been far more suitable - but this is Slash, and Duff, and Matt we're talking about here, the true legends of GNR.  "Set Me Free" is a killer track, sounding more like the GNR we all know and love than "Oh My God" or "Madagascar" ever could.   I've been listening to the classic GNR since I was a 10 year-old enthralled by the video to "Welcome to the Jungle," and I will never stop loving them.  In 17 years, not one rock n'roll band has come along to top them, and there never will be one.  And certainly no artist in any genre has been anywhere near as big as GNR was in their heyday.  During that time, only pre-Load of Crap Metallica and Nirvana has come close.  Everything from "Welcome to the Jungle" to "Sympathy for the Devil" will always live in my heart, one of those rare things from my lost youth that I can always hold onto.  Boy, I can't wait to hear what Slash has got cooking when the debut VR lp hits stores.

Whats up Sun??
Dude that was good post!! I agree with you alot on that.. I agree Seb would have been better, my choice would have been Josh Todd.. Normaly i would try to disagree with any "anti-axl" posts but the way you posted it makes me agree with you on alot points you made..... while its true that Slash came up with the Sweet Child or Jungle riff..

I still tend to think back and  i think that Axl needed Slash.... and Slash needed Axl...

Since those 2 no longer wish to make music together im going to be betting on Axl Rose to make the better album..

I agree with you that nobody will miss buckethead or care that hes gone as much as some think...

I disagree with you that Brain is not a good drummer.. I think hes the best drummer GnR have EVER had... hes way better than Steven or Matt..

BTW I also think Tommy Stinson is a great fit and I would miss that guy in the new GnR like i would miss Duff... The man is more than a "Punk Rock Wannabe" The Replacements are great... Tommy lost his brother to drinking to much... the guy is loyal and talented and from what i can tell wants nothing more than to rebuild GnR with Axl Rose... Good for him... I support him and hope for great things to happen to Mr Stinson...

Bottom Line for me is GnR are as new of band as VR are...

I will support both of them but im betting Axls new band will do better... maybe thats just coz as i would be called here on this board "Iam an Axl Kisser" or what ever...

either way it will be cool....
