Definitely a special moment. He genuinely meant every single word he sang on 'Madagascar', and I think most of us genuinely felt it.

I watch it about once every two months, but usually watch it about 5 times in a 2 day span.

Yes, just an awesome performance! Watch it a couple times a week.  Even if he was a little off on Jungle, Axl on an off night blows any singer out of the water period!  Just his energy made up for any faults we may find.  Axl as a performer is unparalleled.

Even if he was a little off on Jungle

a little off? Dude, did we watch & listen to teh same performance coz Axl totally fucked up & embarassed himself on Jungle during that performance. As much as I liked Axl being back at that time, even i could admit the singing was horrible on the old songs

C'mon man don't hijack this thread and turn it into "Axl sucked on the VMAs" vs "Axl was great on the VMAs"  thread. Please?

I just watched it tonight and while I agree it was "off" it still was exciting and great to watch.

It is sad to watch because at the time I thought so much more was ahead. But how wrong I was...wish I wasn't.

At least he was there and on time. He didn't only rely on old material and there wasn't a riot either. What more could you ask for?  Tongue  Grin

I did admit he had an "off" night.  However, I am willing to look past that.  I was just happy to see him back out on stage, which made up for any shortcomings he had that night.

That hand-grab was an awesome moment.  In fact, that performance of "Madagascar" was great all-around.

I think the hand grab recipient was Ian Robinson of MTV/MTV2 and Headbanger's Ball.
