first off, i wanted to make a poll, but my browser didn't show the "new poll" button. maybe it's diabled, anyways.

i wanted to knows what you guys think about the different "knockin' on heaven's door" versions which are out there.
1) Live at the Marquee (87)
2) Studio (UYI 2)
3) Studio (Days of Thunder Remix)
4) Mercury Aid Version
5) Live like in Boston 2002

so what do you think= this song really shows the progress on gnr. atm i personally like the Days of Thunder Remix the most. i think axl should have kept the short text during the second verse on the album version.
and the newgnr shows the feeling of this song real great. (although i want new songs, i'd really aprreciate it as a bside on a single.) but it depends on my mood which version i like the most.

I like them is this order (although I prefer other Mercury-like versions over the mentioned, for example the version of the second RIR2 night)

1) Mercury Aid Version
2) Live at the Marquee (87)
3) Studio (Days of Thunder Remix)
4) Studio (UYI 2)
5) Live like in Boston 2002

My favorite is the Mercury Aid Version.  The second guitar solo is just glorious, although it takes one to watch the video footage to truly see Slash's emotion in his playing.  Also, the audience singing the fourth "knockin'..." after the reggae break is amazing.  You can practically hear every person in the crowd singing at the top of their lungs.

I also think the new GN'R version is pretty good too.  It has a good amount of soul, but stays truer to the Bob Dylan original.  By the way, what is the Days of Thunder Remix?  I don't think I've ever heard that one.

the days of thunder version is slightly different. during the 2nd verse axl speaks some words which are neither in the bob dylan nor in any other KOHD version. and the ending is a little bit differnt, it ends with drums (just ilke estranged and coma).

Personaly I love the version from the (come back) HOB New Years show I thought was the best. But the RIR3 version kinnda split the old live version with the new live version and on the 2002 version Axl sings it with such emotion and thats tops to. ok
