I know GN'R are mentioned for every festival and probably won't happen but as it mentions GN'R I thought I'd share. As it says, don't hold your breath  peace  BTW.. 115 pound for a ticket.. that's insane!

First three bands for Download

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
01 February 2006

The Prodigy, Trivium, and Bullet For My Valentine are the first acts to be confirmed for this year's Download festival - and tickets are on sale here from Friday.

Download 2006 takes place at Donington Park from 9-11 June and is expected to once again play host to some of the finest heavy rock acts from around the world.

Despite Bullet For My Valentine, The Prodigy and Trivium being the first acts to be announced, only The Prodigy have been confirmed as main stage headliner. The other two are expected to feature high up the bill, possibly even headlining the second stage.

Organisers have promised to announce bands as and when they are confirmed, so expect a flurry of announcements over the coming months.

Other bands doing the rounds as possibles for Download include Korn, Placebo, In Flames, and (don't hold your breath!) Guns 'N' Roses.

Weekend tickets are priced ?115 (?135 with camping and parking) and are available here from Friday 3 February. Click here for more info on Download 2006.

And recently there have been rumor from a festival in Italy.(Gods of Metal)...

At the end, the Live staff writes that for the headliner's name we must have "just a little patience" ! ! ![/color]

whitesnake is playing at the gods of metal one, why wouldn't GN'R?

and don't say GN'R is more popular, because half the world thinks they're a fuckin joke.

GNR are more popular. if half the world thinks GNR are a "fucking joke", then what does that make Whitesnake? Whitesnake were popular for about 5 minutes in the late 80's. The whole fucking planet prefers the originality of Axl Rose over David Coverdale's lame Robert Plant imitations.

because GN'R is not really a "metal" band. GN'R has always been different from the "metal" scene. They have always been more Rock than metal. Just more real and better.

Appetite doesn't sound metal. It sounds rock/hard-rock but not metal exept maybe "you are crazy".

Axl's new band sounds more metal than the old band ever did, and you can see that from the 2002 shows.

Go to the official Download festival site and they aren't listed.  I would think this means that they are not confirmed yet.
