Since the time Billboard introduced the catalog chart, albums have been moved to the catalog chart if the album has been on the chart more than 2 years.

This is the list of albums since 1999 that have remained on the Billboard 200 longer than 104 weeks (Guns N' Roses is at 134 weeks through this week):

151 COME ON OVER SHANIA TWAIN
148 COME AWAY WITH ME NORAH JONES
141* GREATEST HITS GUNS N' ROSES
134 WIDE OPEN SPACES DIXIE CHICKS
133 BACKSTREET BOYS BACKSTREET BOYS
118 YOURSELF OR SOMEONE LIKE YOU MATCHBOX 20
112 MY OWN PRISON CREED
111 GOLDEN ROAD KEITH URBAN
110 5 LENNY KRAVITZ
109 'N SYNC 'N SYNC
108 SURFACING SARAH MCLACHLAN
108 SONGS ABOUT JANE MAROON 5
105 ELEPHUNK BLACK EYED PEAS
105 THE BEAUTIFUL LETDOWN SWITCHFOOT

Right now, "Guns N' Roses: Greatest Hits" has been the 3rd album with most longevity on the Billboard Top 200 chart since the end of the 20th Century. It will pass #2 in due time. We'll see how it goes from there.

Not bad for a band that some(not me) regard as irrelavent now days.
No one could match them in the late 80's, early 90's and still no one can match them today.
GN'R are the best fuck the rest yes

I doubt that it would've helped that much.

With almost no marketing, the Guns record still sells well, since people are still "finding" it. And by finding I don't mean like actually only now noticing that oh my god, they have a GH cd, but that they might've bought a more hyped album back then, and are only now buying the GH. If it woul've been marketed a lot, it might be that it would'nt have been on the charts this long, although the sales figures in total would've been pretty much the same.

It's worth buying for the SFTD cover, which I think is really cool. Fuck Stephen Thomas Erphawine.  rant

Up there with the likes of The Black Eyed Peas, Keith Urban, Creed, NSYNC, The Dixie Chicks, Matchbox 20 ....

Man, popular music is in some rough days.

At least there is one good album there. (possibly 2, I have no idea who Switchfoot are)

The fact that the rest of the albums on that list are crap shows that GNR are so important to rock n roll.
