The white stripes ahead of Pearl Jam? Rolling stone has finally lost its last marble and all credibility.

Well, considering that the results were from an online poll, I don't think the credibility of Rolling Stone can be called into question on this one. Personally, I've experienced both bands in concert (over the years) and I feel that each has the ability to deliver awe inspiring performances on a regular basis.

So, for those of you who haven't yet experienced a live performance from PJ or TWS (YouTube and dvd's don't count) I'd highly recommend both bands.

Appropriate that most of Rolling Stone's readers would vote a bunch of pussy music on that list. Fuckin' wankers.

I saw the Arcade Fire live and it was definitely a great show.  There's a lot of odd instruments thrown in the mix and they definitely pull off an interesting show.  My only gripe was that it was too short.

Wilco is an amazing live band, should have been number one. And Nels Cline is one of the best guitar players out there ....

Just returned from seeing the Arctic Monkeys in Manchester and i've seen White Stripes, Muse, Hold Steady and other bands on that list and they were better than them.

I have never seen Pearl Jam but i hear they are good.

I've seen GNR and U2 and i would say along with Oasis in Frinsbury Park and the Arctic Monkey Gig they are the best 4 gigs i've been too. The energy in Manchester this weekend was more than any gig i've been to.

Out of all the shows I've seen so far this year, my top three are:

1) Roger Waters
2) GnR (23rd June)
3) GnR (24th June) ?Grin

Those are by far the best. Honerable mention to Eric Clapton- amazing musicians.

As must as I loved the GnR shows, Roger Water's 'Darkside of the Moon' show was just awe-inspiring. I seriously doubt anything will top that- amazing set list, including the entire DSOTM; mind blowing visuals; unbelieveable musicians, and just an amazing thing to witness.

That RS list is pretty interesting. I saw the Red Hot Chilli Peppers earlier this year, and was pretty disapointed. They didn't do anything wrong, and they sounded good, but it just seemed very ordinary, like I may as well have just listened to their CD. I don't know, I would think that for a band to be on a 'Best live band' list, then they need to do something special.
