Why would GNR tour with Poison?Huh First off, there was hatred between the bands. Second GNR was NEVER a hair band. I hate when people categorize them as such. Their lyrics and music were much better than Poison or Motley Crue. Btw, I do agree with the fact that this title was misleading. I tought that GNR was going to fill in.

Just read how Vince may be in trouble....Can this put the Motley Crue/Poison tour in jeopardy? If so, how gr8 would it be if GN'R filled in to help their ol' Sunset "Buddies" out..Got my tickets already, so I'd be all 4 it!!!

I don't think Axl would ever do a tour w/Poison.  I don't believe he was a big fan of them. I don't mind Poison, but they are what they are.  They have some catchy tunes, but not really known for their talent.  I think this would kind of be a joke if they toured together.

I really doubt GN'R would even consider touring with Poison.

Pretty sure Motley Crue were just forced to by Live Nation since they used to bitch about Poison all the time (personally I can't stand either of them).

What I would love to see: GN'R / Alice in Chains tour.

They've shared the stage a few times recently, I think that would be a solid package.

GN'R/Alice In Chains tour woudl kick ass.

How can you dislike a band like Motley Crue?! ..... its beyond me

I'll tell you why.  ok

I'm sick and tired of seeing the band portray themselves as hardknocks or hardcore partying drug, taking sons of bitches.

I'm tired of Vince Neil acting like he is a good frontman, and also acting like he was hard, when he got called out by Axl himself, and then shut up.

I hate all of the damn love Tommy Lee gets, when he is not anything amazing on the drums, and not a patch on Josh Freese for example.

I'm tired of girls and wannables trying to dress like Nikki Sixx, as if he invented glam all by himself.

And from what I have heard from them, I don't like any of their songs, just might not be my style, but I don't get why people love them so much TBH.  Tongue

I Also think it was just damn rediculous when Vince started wearing Jerseys at some of his shows around 03-04. Just because Axl did this in 2002, so yeah I just hate how Motley Crue get all this praise, when they just seem to want to look the part, rather than growing as artists and changing with the times like GN'R.  ok

And just for the record, yes I do actually like Poison better than Crue.  yes

You don't think Tommy is a good drummer? He's one of the best out there right now! he's a great drummer believe me... all the magazines and Pamela Anderson drama aside... Josh Freese is great yeah, but Tommy is in his league for sure...

As far as Vince goes, he's a great frontman as well. I can't believe you're saying this, honestly! Motley Crue is my favorite band and i can't believe what im reading lol

and the whole Axl vs Vince thing was all nonsense, neither one of them actually meant what they were saying...that was just a publicity stunt made by Vince, which Axl didn't answer as well... he gave the polite answer, "whenever he wants", thats a great  "avoiding the question" answer. Its not to be taken that serious anyways.

Have you seen Carnival of Sins?? Probably not, have u seen them at their best in the 80s? Don't think so.

Anyways dont wanna turn this into a Motley thing... its just shocking to hear this to me, so i apologize

btw Axl wears a motley crue shirt on some of his shows form 87,88 and 89 (For the ones that are saying Axl hates Motley Crue).

They're not portraying one in a million, they are what they say they are, its REAL!

Nikki had an overdose, Mick was on the sauce, Vince had an accident because he was on drugs and alcohol and his friend ended up dead in his car. Tommy had problems with drugs and alcohol, and he has problems with alcohol to this day (one friend of mine from West Hollywood is friends with him).  They are what they say they are. They're not posers. And believe me, they did more damage than Guns. ok

To deny that Tommy Lee is a good drummer is ridiculous.

He is a great drummer, and has not only played in Motley Crue. Hes played all sorts of genres and done session work. He even contributed some percussion on Downward Spiral by NIN. His attitude, ego, way of life is a joke. But his drumming is fucking awesome. As a performer also, great, one of the firsts to do the whole revolving drum kit thing...maybe even the first?

Everything Poison did is because Crue did it first. Motley Crue are fakes now, but cmon they are in there late 40s, early 50s. Alot of artists sadly become commercialised and false if they are unable to function to make good music anymore, which is the case of Motley Crue. Talented players, but they dont work well together writing music anymore...thats why DJ Ashba co-wrote alot of Saints of Los Angeles and thats why it sucked cock.

But the Crue were genuine to start with. They all came from different crazy backgrounds. Nikki especially... while the man clearly has his head screwed on despite the drugs he took... he didnt just take drugs because it looked "cool". This is a guy who killed himself twice because of his addiction and demons, and yet he still went back on the drugs again.

Crue came from the streets, they made a name for themselves, they originally put out their debut album and managed to get themselves noticed and signed. The band repeatedly wrote kick ass glam metal albums. If you dont like the genre, you wont like the crue, its as simple as that. But if you are a fan of Glam Metal...while Crue are not anywhere near as technical as some of their peers like RATT. The Crues music WAS raw and it did kick ass.

I dont care about the history between Vince and Axl Rose. Who gives a shit, Trent Reznor repeatedly took the piss out of Axl and Chinese Democracy... doesnt mean i dont think NIN and Trent are fucking great. Ozzy Osbourne has ripped on Axl, Ozzy is a fucking joke now, doesnt mean i cant enjoy his time with Black Sabbath and his solo work.

If you dont dig crue for there music, no worries man, not everybody can like everything! I cant stand Radiohead, yet there guys on here who think they are genius's..not for me, that guys voice GRATES. But i dislike Radiohead because of the music, not their singers ugly ass face.

I have waffled on a bit, but my point is you cant say they are not good at what they do.

Good post mrlee. ok Letting other things affect your opinion of a band is silly IMO. if you don't like the music, fine, just let that be it.

Wasn't that big a fan of SOLA really, then again I've not listened to it much since I first bought it....

I do enjoy Radiohead though. Perhaps you'd like to take a look at my avatar? Tongue

WTF!!!, I think you need to go and find yourself a Motley Crue forum dude.  hihi

Chinese Democracy is a work of art my friend, it is the bible and the holy grail. In my view it's the best album ever made, and Chinese Democracy is my favourite song ever.

If you believe that SOL, is better than CD, you are obviously on the wrong bands fan forum.  yes

You don't have to like every album to be a fan.

I love the Rolling Stones, but think their last 7 albums are dog shit.

GN'R is one of my favorites, and I can think of 1,000 albums I'd rather listen to than Chinese Democracy.
None of them would be by Motley Crue though. I'm definitely on the wrong page!

SOLA is a very good album.

CD is the 4th best GNR album however.

Still take it over most other albums.

CD is really not that amazing at all. Its an ok album, and thats about it. It was never going to live up to its own hype.

That's all subjective to opinion, alot of GN'R fans believe that the album did live up to the hype, and also class it as their favourite album ever.  ok

Very true, the whole "didn't live up to the hype" thing really isn't fair to the band.  To be fair the band never "hyped" up anything, it was the fans and the media.  They just quietly worked on the record, and cd is 14 songs of the several more that they worked on.  People judge this as it took 17 years for these 14 songs, that was not the case.  The media kept putting out fake release dates and assumptions, the only date GNR ever put out was a TENTATIVE date in 2007, other than that they put the record out as soon as they officially gave a  date.  Kurt Loder asked Axl if we would see CD soon, Axl responded with "i dont know if soon is the word."  Couldnt be more clear if you asked me.

I agree it's not fair to the band to say it didn't live up to the hype. The hype was there because at one point, Guns N' Roses was one of the biggest bands in the world, so fans naturally wanted another record.
The problem is, that anticipation was built from the success of the 87'-93' era lineup. The new guys walked into a situation that clearly has it's benefits, but also the impossible task of living up to something they were never a part of. The only thing the Chinese Democracy era shares with the the band that made it big is the lead singer, keyboardist and band name.
It's a totally new band, playing together for the first time, playing a totally different sound and going in a totally different direction, 17 years later.

Chinese Democracy made it's share of fans and alienated others. Most fans were probably never going to accept the drastic change in sound from recording raw dirty rock n' roll music to a much more polished, and clean sound, regardless of who was playing on the record. Politics aside, it's cool to hear Axl sing again. I think CD has it's moments, and I'm certainly looking forward to whatever comes next.

personally i thought the production hurt CD the most. I was playing with some Mogg files and remixed it and Tommy has some incredible bass that is buried in the mix. album would've been even better stripped down more. drums are also almost non existant on most of it.

Are you kidding me about SOLA?! that album was a piece of fucking mastered LOUD crap. CD is an opus. Axl layered it because that was his vision.  I know people like DJ Ashba but I can't stand hearing him and looking at him. He and James Michael poisoned Motley.
