SCOTT WEILAND: 'SILLY MONEY TROUBLES WERE BEHIND VELVET REVOLVER SPLIT'

Rocker SCOTT WEILAND has finally spoken out about his split from VELVET REVOLVER, blaming "piddly financial things" and band "bickering" for the supergroup break-up.

The former frontman, who was sacked by his bandmates in April (08), reveals Velvet Revolver had run its course because it stopped being fun for him.
He also claims members of the band were unhappy about his decision to reunite Stone Temple Pilots during a summer hiatus.
Weiland tells the new issue of Playboy magazine, "When I told (founder and guitarist) Slash I was gonna do some festivals with STP, he said, 'Thank you for being straight up with me'. It wasn't until later that another member of the band had some issues with it.

"It's a shame certain people have a hard time letting go of past resentments and try to throw them onto other people.
"(And) when you start bickering about little piddly financial things, it takes the fun out of it for me... We're all doing pretty good, so if you're going to f**k the relationship up over this, I don't want to be involved."

Weiland's summer tour with STP has been a success; Velvet Revolver are still searching for the singer's replacement.

Not to get too off track with this topic, but as I was reading Weiland's comments, it suddenly dawned on me; This is probably why Axl does everything via contracts these days. If your band is contractually obligated with explicit terms that in no way can be misconstrued, then everyone knows what they are getting themselves into and they will be getting for their work. Whereas if you go the traditional way of being a "gang" and a band of equal individual benefits, I can definitely see how people would start getting paranoid when the money starts coming in.

Well look at that, topic back on track after all.

I wonder how Scott would have taken it if Slash said to Scott "Hey Scott, me, Duff and Matt are gonna play a few festivals w/ GnR"

That would have been awesome... talk about Rock Roll drama. I am sure he would have been Mr. understanding, especially since he took a shit with the rumors of Slash going to Axl's house, remember how well he took that episode.

On a side note he seems to be Mr. politically correct these days with all his comments about VR. I think he is trying not to continue to burn that bridge in case he may want to reconcile with the guys.

Hudson, I think it was your post that I just replied to in the lead singer search topic, and oddly enough, this post will be kind of related to that...Anyway...

I hadn't really considered Scott and VR getting back together until you mentioned it. But if I were VR, wouldn't touch Scott with a stick unless he had been clean and sober for at least 5 years. It's just a bad combo otherwise.

If they made that a requirement, there would be no members left in VR

Well, that's why I applied it only to Scott. The rest of them seem to be able to perform and maintain their work ethic even if they are not completely sober.

Please, forget about Scott going back to Velvet. He must stay in STP, he and the brothers DeLeo have something else when they write songs together. STP is his place.

VR must hire a new guy, and ow a totally stranger that will be happy just for being on the band and won't have a ego.

Well I think that you can safely bet that Scott won't go back to VR. However, I doubt that he'll remain in STP forever either. His personality, from what I've read about it, just seems way too difficult. He doesn't seem like someone who can get along with anyone for very long.

I would not want to touch him either, but for whatever reason the lead singer search does not appear to be going as smoothly as it may have been anticipated. We do not know what is going on inside the band, but the top notch singers are not getting in line for the VR gig. I think the Chris Cornells, Mike Pattons, Lenny Kravitz, etc. want to have their own bands because they do not have to answer to anyone. They are basically their own boss. They do what they want when they want, do not answer to anyone and most importantly do not have to compromise. That is why it appears to me why it has been difficult for VR to get someone that is a big name, who can sing their music, write  music, has stage presence, does not have drug problems, does not have a big ego, etc. It is much easier for Chris Cornell to put a talented band together of unknown musicians and create music where they answer to him than get together with Slash, Duff & Matt and have Slash tell him to change some lyrics on his chorus.

The only way I see Scott returning is if VR decides to go on a long hiatus were everyone finishes all their projects and tours and after a another 2-3 years they decide to give Scott another shot and go into the studio and record some tracks for 4-5 months as they usually do and tour for a year. This could create a buzz about VR getting back together and may increase sales.

I wish they could get someone that will obviously acclimate well into the band, create great music, and generate a buzz about VR to make them a successful band again.

Its obvious who Scott is referring to. That cock sucker Matt Sorum

He is the one who talked shit about the STP festival and talked about how much more money he made in GNR.

I say dump Sorum, bring in adler and get Scott back.

It rarely happens on this messageboard, but I 100% share your view on the matter. You hit the nail on the head with your theories, in my opinion. And I wish the same thing for VR as you.

Yikes, I can see Microsoft's wheels turning right now...

Celebrity Rehab - The VR World Tour Edition. The goal of the game is to make sure your drummer doesn't take over the band, fire everyone and replace you with a tribute band's members.  Shocked
