Yeah it's a great song and Bucketheads solo is awesome. One of the best solos on the cd.

I had to get past THAT line before I could appreciate it, but I love it now. Could take Patience's place in the live shows, not that I'm directly comparing the two and I'm sure there'll be room for both  ok

these lines do it for me:

Quote
its harder to live with the truth about you than to live with the lies about me

and

Quote
you know where to put your shut up and sing

clearly a dig at a certain someone we all know....especially the shut up and sing line....wasn't that what they were all telling him in the early nineties...?

very well done, this song is great.....oh, i also think its about us in a way....plenty of indication in there about annoying ones who think they know everything....so it must be about us....

I think its about everyone thats hurt him and criticized him over the years about this album and what's happened with the band. He even mentions people who think he owes them something.

Until I got to This I Love this was my favorite on the album. Sorry, This I Love, Catcher, and Better--that's the big four for me. There's a lot going on in Axl's tone throughout. The lyrics are sort of funny and sarcastic throughout. I could see how someone would maybe take them the wrong way but I think this is sort of the mature, brilliant version of Get in the Ring.

Bucket's solo is beautiful too.

Before the powerful chorus. Which has that doom metal feel, (black sabbath groove more like)

The verse bits, i love them. That strange trippy sound, reminds me of some songs from the first smashing pumpkins album.

12 posts about this track and noone has mentioned Bucket yet?  Buckethead makes this song as far as I'm concerned, the lead fills, the rhythm guitar during the chorus, the epic solo and the awesome outro.  Well done mr Carroll!

I mentioned it in my review of CD. Bucket kills. Great fucking solo. I could listen to it all day for that solo. WOW is all I can say. I was blown away. I hear Bach just fine he brings some added umph to the song. Quality track but the solo bumps it up a notch for me.

I have very little positive comments about this song. The brooding nature of it is cool but I guess I just don't get the lyrics. It's actually the delivery of the lyrics that I don't get. Example; the "but I don't want to do it" line in the first verse. I don't care who this song might be an attack on, I care more that it could've been more effective. The pre-chorus, chorus and solo stand head and shoulders above the rest of the track.

It's a toss up between this and Madagascar as my favorite tracks from this album.

I'll go out on a limb and say that I sense a Pink Floyd-ish vibe/sound in this song.

I would go as far as saying this is one of the greatest songs from GN'R - EVER!

Along with Better, Street Of Dreams and There Was A Time----Sorry really moves me and makes me proud to be a huge fan of Axl and this GNR.

Those are the big 4 for me on this record. I wanna love the hard stuff but it's only a strong like no matter how hard I try. The riffs are killer on these four tracks though.

It's either about Slash or something we're totally oblivious to.

The album is only half the story really, the other half being an epic Axl interview describing 'the making of' and his inspirations for the songs.  For example I enjoyed AFD, but the album really filled out for me when I found out the stories and people behind WTTJ, My Michelle, Sweet Child, etc.

I agree.  Anyone notice that this song is in three quarter time?  You can count the beats in threes just like on some of Pink Floyds material, for example "Shine on you crazy diamond".  This is a very unusual time signature for hard rock, and GNR in particular.

My favorite song on the album.  I actually, the day after the NYC listening party, added a quote from the song to my posting siggie here at HTGTH.

It's brutal, and hard, and biting, and the solo that kicks in around the 3 minute mark (thanks Myspace streaming for letting me get an EXACT time!) is just awesome.

Out of all the REALLY strong material on this album...this is the best of the best for me.  There's lots of other stuff I love (IRS, This I love, TWAT, Better), but this is the creme de la creme for me....

The ONLY part I don't like is "the line".....and I can live with it to get the rest of the song!
