4/14/2012. MAKE IT HAPPEN.

« Reply #240 on: November 24, 2008, 07:50:39 PM »

The first two minutes of this song are so stirring...I can't explain how beautiful it is. Chicks would go crazy for this.

Then...a guitar solo?

I would have much rather preferred both the guitar and drums out of this song, and just let it be a simple piano driven number, with more orchestral arrangements. Axl's on top of his game vocally here, though.

A Guns N' Roses classic, but with the unnecessary guitar solo, it will be hard for Top 40 stations to put this on their playlist.

I could see Axl playing this song on the AMA's, MTV Awards, or some event like that.  I think it would be awesome.

And people think Street of Dreams is the November Rain...but I think this is...  Anybody else agree?

Beautiful, haunting, epic, perfect, stunning, a fucking masterpiece. It sends chills down my spine EVERY time I listen to it. Makes me want to fall in love with him. He sounds so sad and his vocals are so haunting.

Man this song is magic. I love the vocals on this piece. Very operatic in the way Axl delivers the vocal line.  A+

P.S.The guitar solo is sublime. It's not November Rain get over it. The way the guitar solo is laid over the melody is perfect. drool

This I Love ..................... Grammy 2009 ............There I said it !!!!

Surprisingly for me (I'm an old timer),  I have been listenening to Riad and Shacklers. Those songs rock, they are so tight. Cant stop listenening to them.

This album &%$^in rocks. If any one thinks otherwise they need their head examined, I know a few good neurologists !!!!

Is it me or there is very little time between tracks and they basically just play into one another? I love it, no time to breath and the next track is in your face.

Axl I know your reading these posts. Thank you !!! You &%$^in  did it man !!!! Congrats !!!!

I agree that this is the best song on the albumn.  I loved it within 30 seconds of the first time i heard it.

As for the "unneccessary" guitar solo...  That shit is key.  And that's the problem with today's music i think.  the lack of Bluesy solos.  i LOVE this whole fuckin albumn.

IT IS EVERYTHING I EXPECTED.

I like the guitar solo, I just don't like how long it is. Finck does a good job, but to be completely honest, this song feels like it needs Fortus playing some lead. He doesn't get any fucking spotlight in this album. It's quite sad, because I was almost certain it was his solo on If the World, it sounded so much like his playing during RiR Lisbon.

I haven't had time to flip back through all the posts and figure out if this was said before or not...but who are we assuming this is about?

Everyone is assuming Stephanie Seymour I guess...but I don't know how much truth to that there is...was there anybody else? Could it be anybody else?

My guess would be that it's about his mother.

Wow, the love is still pouring in for this song.  After several listens, I have to say it's not as annoying as when I first heard it.  But I can't see how so many of you think it's the best track on CD.

Yeah I feel the same way... Before i got CD, everyone was saying how this is the best song on the album and the best of the unheard songs and all that. I listened to the cd straight through to get the whole affect, and after I heard 'Sorry' I was so amazed that i had this smile on my face like 'wow and everyone is saying that This I Love is the best new track cant wait'. Then I heard This I Love and was like what am I missing....Maybe I just read into the hype too much or something I dont know. Its a good track, just was expecting more.

I sent the song to a friend of mine.... he is one of those people that want a reunion, but dont hate axl and  havent really heard anything new from the new guns.

I just sent it to him and he replied:

"It is awesome."

"Is the album out?"

-I said yes, I just bought it-

"Im going to buy it tomorrow at the virgin store."

(he pauses for a second, like he is still listening to the song again and says:)

"Better yet Im going to go and buy it right now !!"
 Grin

This song makes non believers see the light peace

Found this. It's an early piano demo of Estranged. First 20 seconds or so seem to be part of This I Love. Guessing that the song has been worked on in some form since at least 1990.

This I Love  love

this is what i got to say about This I Love:
My favorite vocal from Axl - Axl's vocals are gorgeous... perfect even
powerful & vulnerable. forlorn & hopeful... succinct & beautifully detailed
subtle & instense... both precariously & perfectly balanced...

the piano  and the orchestration... just gorgeous

Robin's solo  love
Robin's guitar sings... cries out with emotion that reaches inside me searing, burning, soaring - it cuts into me, enters me, stirs my insides - deeply touching... simultaneously making me aware of a 'void' and somehow filling it with pure hot white sound

This I Love (and Better) particularly showcase the beautiful and powerful chemistry between Axl and Robin (specifically)

Catcher In The Rye

« Reply #257 on: November 25, 2008, 08:53:16 PM »

This song is one of my favorites on the album.

The only possible flaw i can point out, that kinda annoys me, is the guitar work during the chorus right after the solo. The lead part just doesnt work with the melody of the chorus and just serves to make that whole section too messy.
